What happened to player quality?

The problem is that the "Troll/Noob Era" has begun. Good knowledgable minecrafters are annoyed by "trolls/noobs" so they slowly quit minecraft until they have moved on and the trolls and noobs amount is growing... Most new players tend to be complete trolls or noobs nowadays.

Oh ya and welcome to the forums :D

I run a vanilla survival server, and that kind of behavior isn't tolerated whatsoever. We have anti-grief plugins and one chat plugin, but other than that, we are vanilla. We also have a TeamSpeak server, so we're all pretty tight-knit even though we have players and staff from all over the world. :)

It's all about finding the right server, man. That's the whole reason I created my server, there are too many terrible ones out there. Well, I hope people don't rage too much about plugging my own server. I hope that read this and my server can actually be a solution to their SMP issues similar to the ones that you have had. :)

That was my reason for creating my own and because for whatever reason i have trouble taking other server rules seriously... I dont know why... i have tried but i always seem to be "F**k the rules and get on with it!", but i will admit i have abused in the past... i didnt realize it at first then once i did i became "Better" and vented my frustration from the server to BF3...

Well every new player is going to be a noob but I see where you are getting at here. Hard to disagree with that logic.

Role playing servers just like Lord of the Craft are the best because they actually are mature and they actually help keep order. Try role playing ones and stick to that. Or a cool Hunger Games one because there you can actually be rude.

I love SMP, but some servers are really stupid. Like servers that have too many plugins to actually enjoy the game, or servers that spam your screen with announcements, or servers that say they have anti-grief plugins but are filled with griefers,
This is why I like my off-the-radar servers that aren't really popular. Call me a hipster, but servers with smallish communities are always better IMO.

You hit the nail on the head. I feel truly disappointed when I look at the overwhelming amount of ignorant, hostile kids that are invading gaming communities all around the world.

And thanks for the greeting. :)

That last part really stood out to me. Back in beta 1.6-1.8, I played on this small, about 14 slot server, and it was a freebuild server. Building was one of the minor parts there, there was no announcements, no donation "perks". It was the best server I've ever played on, and I hope to return to it some day.

What i do is find servers with like 20 people max on them... then u find an established faction the others wont mess with, and play, once the server gets bigger, you will be in a safe faction, and since u were in the "starting group" th admins and such will be more inclined to listen to you, or you could even be a mod/admin by then... thats just what i do, and i find very good server s that provide a lot of play time

P.S. srry for bad grammar or whatever... im on a nook and it has a kinda sucky touch pad
