I love SMP, but some servers are really stupid. Like servers that have too many plugins to actually enjoy the game, or servers that spam your screen with announcements, or servers that say they have anti-grief plugins but are filled with griefers,
This is why I like my off-the-radar servers that aren't really popular. Call me a hipster, but servers with smallish communities are always better IMO.

That last part really stood out to me. Back in beta 1.6-1.8, I played on this small, about 14 slot server, and it was a freebuild server. Building was one of the minor parts there, there was no announcements, no donation "perks". It was the best server I've ever played on, and I hope to return to it some day.

Heck yes. I play on a small, 18-slot Medieval RP Server. The newbies generally keep to themselves, and the veterans are the friendliest people I've ever met in MC.

All right i agree with this topic for one reason TROLLS IGNORANT 5 Years olds and other douche kids Im 13 I am not mean i am nice these kids are being trolls making servers no fun AND THE OWNERS Most owners may be 16 and 12 or older but what i hate is that when 12 year olds are fucking server owners Like really? These 12 year olds troll heck they dont even care about there members They want DONATIONS and after 5 months the server is shut down and the money is theres Now to be honest if i had a server half of the money would go towards the server the other half would go to charity and 1% of the money will go to me Im being fair i think it should be like that because really? who gives a flying fuck about money well of course you need it for food and supplys to survive BUT REALLY Whats the point To be douche Ive met a rich person before on ROBLOX When i was 10 and this is what the guy said "Aww you noob are you sad because i am rich and your poor?" And i was like "Hmmm Some one needs to get off there lazy ass and go do somthing!" But really whats the point of being a douche and owning a server at age 12 I belive at age 12 its a hard responsibilty Because if its a payed server your gonnah need donations your gonnah have to pay for the server your gonnah need staff every time some one joins it costs money Money Really Spend your money on what you really need not some shitty ass server that your computer can't handle im onthe verge of quiting because of what has happened to minecraft And now i am done typing i hope you read this carefully and see what i am saying

Also, one plugin u really want to make sure the server u play on has is i believe called eagleye plz correct me if im wrong, where the admins can go back in time and bring back old pieces of land, so say ur huge aood fortress is "accidentaly" covered in lava by ur arch rivals... u can ask the admin and they can restore it to its former glory

I'm 15 years old, and I pay for my server out of my own wallet. I have enough money earned to keep it up for a entire year, and that's only about $300. I've been saving that up for some time, but most server owners now claim they are broke, and need donations to keep the server up.

I do get reasoning behind donations, they r to keep the server running in case the owner cant pay from his wallet like u... i just hate it when its like "give 100 dollars and recieve creative, or a reappearing set of diamond armor and tools, i dont mind, maybe like a single set of tools or armor, or discounts in server shop, but things that actually give u power over other players are kinda cheap for the guus who dont have 100$ to shell out to some guy living wirh his mom (not all server owners live with parents)

It is truly sad, on my server every time I bump it I get a bunch of noobs. Not as in they are idiots (Though some of them are) They will just walk past all the signs I left them to read and then ask the questions the signs addressed. I really hate how all games get overrun with a bunch of idiots, thought I suppose the internet made this inevitable!

Sadly, it seems as if all servers now are the same. Immature community, diamond-bribing owners, I was lucky to find a good old survival, no pvp server back in 1.8.

Yeah, I once got banned because I was a girl.. Another got banned because off a hero brine skin, the admins were not nice at all and the world looked horrible.. But you will find a good server some day

Do you hate ALL 12 year olds with servers because..... I'm twelve and have a (free) server so.....

I never find good roleplay servers, and don't like other servers, so I don't really play Minecraft that much.

Anyway, Your dilemma, opening post guy, is from a single server, just look around a bit, there is a lot of bad, but a lot of good to contrast them.

Seriously, there is thousands upon thousands of servers out there, keep looking and dont give up, you obviously still care about the game and multiplayer if you took the time to make this post, and put your story out there.

I blame parents. I run a server and find that a lot of younger kids just have no respect for other people and think they deserve something. You do get some good ones but in general they cheat, exploit and abuse each other. Gets stressful at times especially when I write most of the plugins for my server and instead of creating awesome fun plugins I end up fixing exploits and making ways for the server to be self moderated in a way.

It's a good server though, it's just annoying having to weed out all the annoying players all the time.

Would be nice to be able to 18+ your server somehow haha

I hate this! I had a guy go "hey do i hav to read the signs". I told him it'd be nice if he did, as it would inform him of our rules, ranks, and such. Now, he asks dumb questions every time he joins, and I'm about ready to explode.

well i run a nice and respectful survival (little pvp survivalgames) server with 3 admins all nice and people who actualy respect the game one of the rules (NO SWEARING)
another rule (BE NICE NO RUDENESS) and the will be either frozen and muted or kicked and banned
