I've had overloads of adware, random homepages, and lots of lag. I eventually fixed them, but it was really annoying.

Not on my computer, but my brothers laptop had somewhere around 2000+ viruses, varying from keyloggers to trojans. And I'm just thinking, how the heck do you get things like that?
Needless to say, he factory reset his computer, and now everythings fine

It isn't one I had personally but I did see one on a tech job. Viruses aren't as common as people make them out to be, most of the time it's a word that's thrown out there if something bad happened.

Someone called me in to fix their desktop and they said it was going slow and I was like okay, sounds easy enough and then I was cleaning it and everything was going fine. Then while I was doing all this, suddenly something got super aggressive. I'm not kidding here, whatever this was suddenly started making new files and folders in all the directories, even infected my USB stick and erased the MBR from it so I couldn't boot into Linux. I had to go home and come back the next day because I had to use a Linux computer to reformat everything to prevent the spread of infection to my Windows computers. Nothing on that hard drive could be saved.

Viruses are very hard to get rid of, correction: IMPOSSIBLE to get rid of, you have to make sacrifices in a matter of seconds when you discover one. You have to sometimes delete pictures and program files, even business documents or they will have the audacity to invade everything by themselves when you open them. I warn people that I have to copy very few things or it will spread to a new install of Windows. You can't do anything but wipe it. Most times people plug in their external hard drives for backups and keep them plugged in, this is also a bad idea. I don't know how Windows users sleep at night. Like I said earlier it is something quite rare, of course the cause of this infection came from either Limewire or Kazaa off music files.

I had a virus that nullified my ability to use my mouse/type on my keyboard. Had to go to my BIOS to fix it, but it was still annoying.

The worst virus I had is when a 14 year-old German boy thought it was funny to completely shut down my computer and go through all my files, and now he is in jail. Then, I got a trojan horse virus, it was pretty bad. At first, I thought you could close it, but apparently you can't. After these difficulties, I got DDoS attacks all the time. I setup DDoS Protection from DigitalOcean, and got some virus inspector programs such as McAfee, Avast, and Norton, but I highly recommend McAfee.

Thank you,

Charlie.

Most annoying thing I've ever had isn't a virus as such, but it's called GoSave, and it puts up a bunch of ads whenever I do a search on Google. AVG is unable to get rid of it. I'm stuck ._.

I had this one really terrible virus where it completely froze my computer and obliterated all of my downloads. I have no idea what it is to this day, but it really sucked, and considering I'm kinda bad with tech it was even worse.

Like I said, I had the Bubonic Plague when I was young. but I mostly had bloatware, the one actual one I had was a virus that made your Cd tray Open, and close, open, and close, open, and close. etc... It was made by me and a friend. the way to cure it: turn off the computer.

Well I believe that I recently got a virus that changed the Google Chrome home page to some other search engine. It also gave me about 6 virus scanners. I'm not to sure if it was an actual virus though. I absolutely obliterated the scaners to the point I started to delete files that had nothing to do with them (nothing important).

Worst virus I ever had? Well, it's got to be the one of an audio file of a guy saying the Our Father and Shooting himself in the head. I always muted my audio whenever it happened, just so that my mom didn't think I was some kind a satanic blasphemer.
I use Malwarebytes now, so none of that creepy poo-poo ever happens again.

I don't know if I have a virus right now or not, but my computer's been acting VERY strange.

Can't see my files, can't install mods, texture packs, or maps, can't change the time, can't run most programs, most permissions don't work, etc.

Worst virus for me was when I was playing around with batch files. I accidentally created a DOS:SillyB_33.B, and infected my batch programs. I batch program all the time so it was a bummer...

I had this horrible virus once,

It pretty much infected every file on my computer. Whenever I opened a file, everything in it would get deleted. Whenever I opened a web browser, the virus would crash it. It would also start deleting random files from my computer with no pattern. However because it was so random, after a while, it accidentally deleted itself. So at least I didn't have to buy a new computer.

The worst virus I have ever gotten was while looking for the old "Minecraft 2.0" download. I was being stupid at the time and downloaded a bunch of stuff to my computer. I then got malware and programs started to open. I had my Minecraft and my Minecraft server open at the time and I shut them up down for protection. Immediately after I shut down all the programs, Opera opened (an internet browser) and the page showed a naked indian guy while in a call with my friend. Then music started playing and I thought it was him, because I was in a call with him. I then check my internet browser to the naked man shaking his (you know what) with text flashing saying "You are officially gay". I then told my mom about what happened and she installed anti-malware to my computer. Then we rebooted the computer and everything was back to normal.

Xbox and Playstation have their own Operating system that is only available on that device, and not available for anyone to download, and the only thing you download is games, but I think Microsoft and Sony check anything that is downloadable before published. Let me know if I am wrong.

The worst I had locked down the computer every so often and demanded me to complete a survey to unlock it forever. If I didn't, the computer shut off. If I clicked the link, it gave me a very kind present: the dreaded plain-white screen Eventually removed it.

Also *cough*you shall not pass*cough*

I haven't gotten any malware yet, thankfully. It's always good to have Chrome extensions like Web of Trust to see if websites are legit or not.

I have gotten adware on my old computer, like the iLivid video media download thing.. I got that because I got confused on an adfly link xD

My little brothers, however, get adware on their computers all the time.
