[Survey] Would you donate?
Say someone put a gazillion hours into their game/project etc., and all they ask for is a simple $5 donation, would you donate?
This is my survey for a project I'm doing on humanity

I would if a) I had money, b) I liked the game, c) I LOVED the game, d) I got at least a simple thank-you. (If I donate, I at least want some acknowledgement. I don't mean like wHATSS IN IT FOR MEEEEE?, I just mean, like, I would feel better giving money to someone who's nice enough to take the time and at least speak to their donors.)

if all they are doing is working on a project I would not. However, if it was a released game, I still wouldn't.

It would depend on what the project was. If it wasn't something I was interested in, I probably wouldn't donate.

No. If he invested a gazillion hours in a project that isn't working, then why would I give money away? There are far more better causes to donate money to than to a random guy who couldn't make a game work.

Before you ask for some random $5 donation, try explaining what it is you put 'gazillion' hours into. Unless your giving out free money majority of people are not going to donate if: A) They do not receive any benefits or B) They have no clue about the topic (Like in the situation)
Anyways, thanks for reading hope it helps
I wasn't asking for donations

That's not true. A donation is supposed to be given without benefits. You don't donate to get items, you donate to support the project. A lot more people than you think will donate without benefits.

If the game was good maybe, totally depends on the cost and whether I can spare it.

I would I have a valid income of cash and enough to to buy something for myself after I buy nescary items and services to live. I've been playing on one server for a year now and everyone who helped donate got where it is today, some can't help donate but some can and those who can will to help the as ever or just for the perks.

I think what you'll see as a general consensus as it applies to services or products in general as opposed to just Minecraft projects is that a lot of people would pay or give money to something they valued or enjoyed, if they had the money to do so. For example, the online text editor JS Bin has a "premium" feature that costs £99 a year and in addition to giving the user extra features it also helps to support the project, and while I know I would be happy to pay that price for something that I use constantly, I don't have the money or the means to actually pay for it. So, I will continue to use JS Bin as a free service, until hopefully I can gather money to donate to the project.
This is similar to the way Minecraft servers should operate through the new EULA. A donator would receive some benefits, while in turn receiving the satisfaction that they helped to further a community and project that they enjoyed. However, as we see so often people are either unable to give money because of financial constraints or other reasons, or they are unwilling to donate money, even something they have spent countless hours playing on or building, making upwards of possibly hundreds of friends, without receiving some sort of advantageous benefit in return. The second option is what most people want more, and most server owners understand that. That is the reason why so many servers still break Minecraft's EULA.

Nope. Never. I dont see how donating to a mod keeps it in development.

If the project is good and I use it regularly, then yeah.

Why Did I Laugh When I Saw This...

Why do you capitalize every word in your sentence?

Maybe you're just a cruel person who finds it hilarious when someone has no way of making money or it just caught you off guard and had a chuckle. Either way works for me.

ad.fly would provide them some money and like 5 seconds to wait for a download like eughhhh and also because I don't have money to throw around I would help them by sharing it if they asked.
1
Adfly is useless unless you average 1,000+ views a day on the Adfly page.
To OP, I would if I had the money and I liked the project.

I don't care how much someone works on something in a video game. I work hard to make what little money I can get, so I'll be using it for myself.
