What’s up Minecrafters? Well, I’ll tell you what I’m up to. Starting today, I am attempting to put together a core team of server officials for a new Minecraft server that I will be creating. Before I go on any further, let me explain to you the “theme,” if you will, of the server is: The World. Our World. The Minecraft server world will be shaped to appear exactly like a world map, containing the US, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Russia, China, the UK, Germany, Greenland, the unclaimed Antarctica, and so on. (Don’t feel offended if I didn’t list you country, I just typed the first ones that came to my mind) The server map will be the approximate same size as the world. (1 Minecraft block = 1km squared. Please help me out here and post a link to a flat map or give me some info.) Players, like how Minecraft is meant to be played, and how real life really is, can do whatever the heck they want! For example, a player can choose to live a normal life, getting a job and working his/her way up in social class/status. One can choose to be a risk taker, a gambler of sorts. One can choose to be lazy and scam others. A player, if he wishes to do so, can even live the life of a murderer, thief, or hitman/assassin. My ultimate goal is not to make a grief-free, cushy, boring environment server, but to make it have an uncountable amount of variables. I mean, if anything can happen in real life, why shouldn’t the same be true for a Minecraft server.
If you were bored to death, I sincerely apologize. But, I would like some feedback, like: I think this is the dumbest idea ever OR I like it OR could be good but [and then ask a question]. Just some things I want to hear. Also, if you’ve seen this server LIVE, like up and running, anywhere, please tell me.
If enough people respond positively, I will post a new forum with application for possible job openings [plug-in developer, map-maker, admin, website designer, etc.]
If I get good feedback, I will keep everyone posted on future developments, such as map pics, plug-ins, and website and server lauch dates.

I was thinking the same except the server detects where they live in real life, then puts them in that area.

It doesnt seem that hard. But it is. You need to tell the server that if this guy lives here put him here. But that doesnt always work right.

I am completely 100% in on this, I think this is an excellent idea for a server.I was thinking that there could be a police force and government and everything! I have some great ideas for it so pm me and I'll skype you!

No, a single block equals a one squared meter. Are you saying every door is one kilometere squared long? Nuh-uh.
