I've been working seriously on redstone projects and devices since January of 2011, and that's pretty much my focus in minecraft.  I like redstone because it DOES something.  I wouldn't have the patience for building a castle unless it was going to actually get assaulted.

I am very heavily in favor of functionalism.  A creation's value is primarily in what it can do, rather than what it looks like.  HOWEVER, I am also a firm believer in usability.  If a nice looking interface and a pretty screen will make a creation easier to use then I'll do that, but I'm not generally going to hide any wiring unless it distracts from the view.

I CAN make things pretty, and all of my creations tend to be extremely colorful (although this is to keep different functions separate), but I'm not going to worry about that until after the project is done.  I'll never build a cathedral, but I will make computer games.

What I like most though is teaching and explaining.  I am happiest when helping somebody learn something new.
