Gem Mod 1.3 BETA
For Minecraft 1.2.5
NOTE: This mod is currently in the beta stages and is unfinished.
The textures are TEMPORARY, they are place holders for now till I design the new looking veins and gems.

What is in the mod so far:
- 17 NEW blocks
- 17 NEW gems
- 55 NEW items
- 1 NEW mob
The gems I have included in this mod can be found in real life, the hardness of each block is representative to their hardness in real life (Mohs Scale).
Also the rate of spawn for the blocks are representative of the rarity of the elements in real life.
At this moment in time the gems do not have any uses.
Here is a list of the gems in game.

There is also a mystery block which looks exactly like stone but will drop a random gem, again according to their rarity in real life.

New Mob:
Gem Guardian: This mob will spawn when you mine Melanite, it also is hidden in random blocks of stone found at level 25 and below. IN VERSION 1.3 THE GEM GUARDIAN STONE BLOCK IS MARKED WITH A PURPLE CROSS. Also the mob is UNTEXTURED. I may be holding a competition for the best design for the Gem Guardian skin in the future. I WILL NOT BE ACCEPTING ANY DESIGNS NOW. The Gem Guardian will drop Gem Fragments which can be made into Impure Gems (4 fragments in crafting window) which currently have no use. Also there is a chance for the mob to drop all kinds of gems at random.
This mob is very dangerous with a large amount of health, big hits and lots of speed. When you see one, run...
Also Melanite veins have a 20% chance of dropping an Enchanted Melanite Gem which will be used for powerful items.
Planned Features:
- New mob
- Uses for Gems
- 15 different golden crowns with each needing different gems to craft.
- 15 different golden sceptres each needing different gems to craft.
- A fire launching item crafted with the Enchanted Gems.
- Gem cutting machine.
- Gem stone stands (like an Ender Dragon Egg)

Again I would like to say this is in BETA mode, I would be grateful if anyone can give suggestions in improving the mod and pointing out bugs and issues. For example if veins are too easy/hard to find etc.
Please do not ask me to add any more gems into the mod.

I'm tempted to get back into modding again, I've heard modding is a lot different compared to 1.2.5 so I'll have to figure out how to do it all again. I might update this mod for newer versions of Minecraft if I can find the time.
srry but i love mods that add gems and ores buth here are no toools so please add it soon
ok first, enchanted melantite in a pattern like you would put wood planks to get a crafting table gets you the gem tabe(or whatever you want the name to be) in it you can craft lots of things dif. tools and such but on to the next thing.
with enchanted melantite again you put it in the same recipe as a furnace in the gem table to get the enchanter furnace. I'll explain it later.
Ok now the fun part. put ANY gem in a 2 by 2 square in the gem tabe to get the condensed version of the gem. from there you put that version in the enchanter furnace to get the enchanted version of the gem. from there you can make tools and such.
Now, lets use topaz as an example. you make 8 topaz septers. then put them around an enchanted topaz gem to get the enchanted topaz septer. then put the new septer above an enchanted topaz sword and another enchanted topaz gem to get the septsword. it does insane damage along with other things up to you. I think this would be an AWESOME addition to the mod or if the gem table and enchanting furnace are to complicated just do it in the normal ones. i hope you add this. plus you could add a new fuel or something. i hope you listen to the ideas.
