Note: THE MOD WILL UPDATE TO 1.4 ONCE CUSTOM MOB FILES FOR ML GETS FIXED. WHO KNOWS HOW LONG THIS'LL BE, SINCE I DON'T WANT THIS MOD TO CHANGE ANY BASE CLASS FILES, SO PLEASE DON'T PESTER ME ABOUT UPDATING THIS OR MY OTHER MODS THAT HAVE CUSTOM MOBS IN.

You NEED ModLoader for this mod to work. You can get it here.

Introduction

Hello! This is my first mod I have created for Minecraft. It brings a new, fresh perspective to the sandbox game. With spears, throwable rocks and several tribe groups, this is what Minecraft should be about. Claim territory and take over settlements, hunt mobs, search for treasure amongst ruins. Whatever you fancy, Tribes has it!

Tribes started off as a texture pack, altering the mobs to tribal warriors and spears, with Stone Age looking blocks and RedStone being sacrificial blood. But recently, all my hard work on my 32x resolution texture pack came to a halt. Why? Because everything was deleted. 60+ hours of hard work gone.

From there, I wasted a week being butthurt. Then I realised a solution to this problem: Modding. If I learnt how to use java, I may be able to still finish this project with just adding the features I wanted, rather than working on the blocks and all! So the past month I’ve been learning Java through MCP/Eclipse and have found it to be an amazing experience.

I hope this mod brings you joy to Minecraft as much as it brought joy to me creating it. If it becomes popular, I may take requests on what to add to the mod, who knows? Maybe someone popular may do a Mod Spotlight on it! And Multiplayer could be supported…

Installation

1. Download ModLoader
2. Open your minecraft.jar found in: C:Users\AppDataRoaming.minecraftbinminecraft.jar
3. Drag all the ModLoader files into the .jar and delete the META-INF file.
4. Download Tribes Mod.
5. Drag all the files including the Blocks folder into the same jar. Drag the armor images into the /armor folder.
6. Close all files, start up MC and enjoy!

Known Bugs

The buffalo have no walking animation and they appear to "glide" across Minecraftia.

Not an avid fan of the Forge API, I'm mroe adapted to the workings of ModLoader.

You could always use Magic Launcher, it's even easier and it works with ModLoader mods.

I'm trying to learn how to port SSP mods to SMP, but for now, I'll probably be sticking with Single Player for now.


And from experience, good texture packs take over 300 hours in total to complete. Someone is working on a rainforest one that I like, so maybe I'll give a link to their work when they're done (and permission to link).

Hey for everyone having problems!!! You HAVE TO DOWNLOAD AND DRAG MODLOADERMP files into the .jar AFTER MODLOADER! Reec3ty, anytime you ever add a new block/item to the game you need ModloaderMP ro run it, I don't know why, but you must! Hope this helps! :)

Hmmm well I had trouble installing first time, but after I did ModloaderMP it worked, I guess either way is fine, but I don't mind the extra hassle to run it. Great mod by the way, spawning of mobs is a little bit high, but I've only played for five minutes so I shouldn't judge just yet.

I love this mod! U should make the territory constantly changes between tribes. Make Kukris, Poison tipped daggers, Exotic Maces, Hammers, and Blow darts.( If pictures needed , I could provide ) You might want to add the moving cow motions to the Buffalo and make it ride able Like a steed. I'm not trying to negatively critic on it, but simply give ideas and motivate you to make it as best and vast as possible , of course, without going to far. I don't want much credit ( None, if you prefer.) But I want to stay hidden, because if I get to much needs , I'll stress. I'd love to help.

I don't mind Mod Installers, I know alot of people have trouble with mods and I remember when I first started Minecraft I had to use them. I only get angry at people to do it without permission, but this case is an exception ^_^
