Ships Mod lets you build a ship out of blocks and sail it around the world!
Other mods have attempted this in the past. Some of these projects have been abandoned, and in my opinion, the remaining ones leave something to be desired. Ships mod is my take on how I think sailing should work in Minecraft and this aims to be a high-quality and feature-rich mod.
The latest version is 1.7.10-1.0.4
Don't worry though, the Minecraft 1.6.4 version is still available.

Features:
- Make a ship out of blocks
- Launch it into the world for sailing
- Dock the ship again to make changes to the blocks
- Flotation based on physical simulations
- Walk around on your ship
- Place chests and crafting tables on your ships
- Ships actually displace water (no more water in the bottom)
- Tiny raft-type ship makes getting started on survival mode easier
- Small-type ship uses sails and a helm
- Based on Minecraft Forge
- SP and MP support
COMPATIBILITY NOTES:
- Ships Mod works with Java 6, 7, and 8.
- Ships Mod is not compatible with Smart Moving. Ship collision is disabled somehow by Smart Moving.
- Ships Mod has problems with Secret Rooms Mod. Apparently textures go haywire.
- Ships Mod for Minecraft 1.7.10 is not compatible with Cauldron/MCPC. Cauldron/MCPC uses an outdated version of Forge (v1207) but Ships Mod requires at least Forge v1230 which is the current "recommended" version for Forge for Minecraft 1.7.10.
HOW TO INSTALL
- Install Minecraft Forge. Get the "Recommended 1.7.10" version.
- Download the Ships Mod JAR file
- Put the JAR file in your minecraft/mods folder.

Another maintenance update:
- Fix crash when ship leaves the y=[0,256] range
- Gracefully handle crashes thrown by activating blocks on launched ships
- Gracefully handle crashes thrown by tile entities during ship rendering
- Gracefully handle crashes thrown by blocks during random ticking
- Update to Forge current recommended version 1448
- Increase size restrictions for ship data sent over the network

Of course that's not the exact number and it's probably way less because air blocks but I don't want to build a ship for a hour+ and it be for waste because it won't sail, I mean it would look cool but it wouldn't work for my purposes.
