5th Public Mod here, decided to release something while trying to fix bugs in The Dark Knight Mod.
Anyway so this is your basic new Ores mod, with a twist. Each ore has a gem, and each gem has it's effect, as if it were a potion upon eating. Gems can be found in the 'Foodstuffs' tab of the Creative menu, and the ores can be found in the 'Building Blocks' tab.
Here is a brief description of each gem.
Regeneration Gem: Red Gem and Ore, adds Regenration II effect for 120 seconds/2 minutes.
Bolt Gem: Yellow Gem and Ore, adds Speed II effect for 120 seconds/2 minutes.
Power Gem: Blue Gem and Ore, adds Strength II effect for 120 seconds/2 minutes.
Bounce Gem: Pink Gem and Ore, adds Jump Boost II effect for 120 seconds/2 minutes.
Barrier Gem: Indigo Gem and Ore, adds Fire Resistance II effect for 120 seconds/2 minutes.
Aqua Gem: Turquoise Gem and Ore, adds Water Breathing II effect for 120 seconds/2 minutes.
Cloak Gem: Silver Gem and Ore, adds Invisibility II effect for 120 seconds/2 minutes.
Nocturnal Gem: Black Gem and Ore, adds Night-Vision II effect for 120 seconds/2 minutes.
Hyper Gem: Green Gem and Ore, adds Haste II effect for 120 seconds/2 minutes.

These are my suggestions for the next version of the mod:
So just give me the go-ahead, and I'll make the graphics for them. Just so you know though, if you don't get them before this Thursday, don't expect them until next week, since I'm starting my submission for Mojang's fan art contest on Thursday and it will take a while.

According to that, there's a Water Breathing potion effect, as well as Invisibility. There's just currently no potions or items implemented that cause them. The coding is there though, because the textures are in the .jar of the game, and I've seen servers with plugins that allow you to access those. It's sort of like how there was coding for the Night Vision effect, but no potion until last week's snapshot.
Also, I didn't think we'd need an orange Flare Gem (Fire Resistance) because that effect is also from a fairly common potion. Part of the point of these was that I picked effects that aren't normally found, but that are useful. Also, I needed to make the attack-boosting gems orange so I could make the defense-boosting gems indigo, like the Power gems used to be.
Anyways, I've already made the graphics for the ones listed in the comment above. I'll send them to you, and you can decide whether or not to use them for now. Barrier gems look like shields, Aqua gems look like droplets, Cloak gems look like little ghosts, and Nocturne gems look like dark crescent moons. Note that I also messed with the Health Ore a bit, so that the shade of green matches better. Thanks!

By the way, when you implement those new gems into the mod, you can choose whether to call the black one a Nocturne gem, a Dusk gem, or an Eclipse gem. I'm leaning towards Eclipse, but it's up to you because I can't decide. Pick something before I accidentally come up with something else!
