This filter creates animated areas in the world. It was requested by FoamyTrampoline after seeing Sralam's proof of concept.

The latest version is here: http://www.brightmoore.net/mcedit-filters-1/framination

A sample world save is available, ready for you to run up. (Click)

A second example showing v9 features is here. (Click)

HOW IT WORKS

  1. You make models for each frame of animation in your world, next to each other width-ways for MCEdit (i.e. along the X axis). Each model needs to be the same width.
  2. Then in MCEdit, select the models, specify how wide they are, and run the script.
  3. The script creates spawners, one for each block in each frame of animation. The timing is set up so that as one set of blocks disappears, the next set from the following frame appears. The blocks are called 'falling sand' but they are made to look like the blocks you used in your model.
  4. At runtime the flipping of sets of blocks acts like a cartoon, but in 3D. I have some videos on my YouTube channel (abrightmoore) which are called "FRAMINATION". You can see some of the MCEditing in them and learn more about what goes on.

CHANGES:

Version 9: Supports animating along a simple line path, and works with 1.5. This feature was suggested by YouTube user WaterInAMelon

Version 7: Allows you to specify the co-ordinates where the animation will appear, suggested by MrSpinker. Also allows you to offset multiple animations so they can run interleaved at the same spot.

Version 6: Updated to include a 'delay' between animations. Useful to have a special animation in an area once-in-a-while, instead of looping constantly. Also included the spawners being placed in the same CHUNK to ensure animations stay in sync, by request of Sralam.
Progress: 100% Complete

This means you've got the width and frame sizes messed up.

I've got a couple of simple examples on my YouTube, and Sralam did a really good tutorial on his.

This is brilliant. Have a diamond. And a favorite.

How do I use version 9a? It just writes this:
Exception during filter operation, see console for details, float division by zero.
Edit Reply Delete
What does that mean?

Sralam asked for the spawners to be chunk aligned, and I also put the animation aligned to a chunk as well.

So you CAN manage the positioning by moving your model around. The spawners are at the z+16 chunk. The animation is the next chunk over (z+32), where z is the minz for the chunk where the model's minz is.

Err... That wasn't as clear as I had hoped.

I understood the first sentence. Not the second.
You should add 3 boxes to choose X,Y and Z pos to put the animation. ><"

There are a bunch of tutorial videos on this playlist that may make it simpler to work with:

Yes I know, but every times you move your builds around the animation. But it's hard to move 16.000 blocks around an animation... ><"

Are you saying we need a position selector for the target animation cell? Easily do-able.

I am not a fan of lots of filter options, but I can drop some in if that's helpful.

Otherwise Texelelf has a filter for changing the spawn co-ordinates: http://elemanser.com/filters.html It is called "Spawning Position Mover"

No it doesn't. Seth's has an explosion between every frame, is surrounded by glass, and it has a long delay between frames. This is nothing like it, I wish people would stop saying this is like Seth's, because it really isn't.
Edit Reply Delete
You're right. It doesn't have an explosion. It's actually much better than SethBling's version. It's just shaky. Though I don't think you can fix that.

Yes, I call out the dependancy on Sethbling in the "Credit" section, and also in the source code. It's actually prompted by a post from /u/Sralam today where he had us all guessing how he did his windmill.
Edit Reply Delete
But anyway, this is much cooler. :)

E: I have added a video.

People don't like my videos due to low framerates. I have been complimented on my 'slideshows'. Feel free to make a video and post it on my behalf though. Let me know the link when you're done.
