We now have three mod reviews! This one is from Entertainment4Teens made by PMC user Prawk. (Just to clear some things up from the video, as far as I know, the black wolves are not a new mob, however they may have been added by thesneezingpanda without my knowledge, 'creepers with blue around them' are powered creepers, this occurs when a creeper is struck by lightning. Im not sure which version of the mod the video was created with, however it appears to be an old one, for a more accurate representation of the mod in its current state, please take a look at the video above which uses a more recent release, however the above review is not up to date either and was filmed in 1.2)

All the most CPU intensive features of this mod are now toggle able, constant explosions making you lag? Turn them off! This should make this mod more playable for everyone. 

Welcome to Armageddon, a world where the odds are always against you. Battle your way through hordes of super-powerful enemies, night and day, thunder and lightning. Armed with a diamond sword and set of armour, it's your quest to score as many points as you can. It's not a question of whether you will die, it's when.

This mod makes hard/hardcore mode into a survival challenge game. You spawn with full diamond gear and a sword into an almost impossibly difficult world (only on hard difficulty, switch to another difficulty to remove these effects) world, where mobs explode on death, creepers are always charged, more powerful and tougher. Wolves are always hostile, no mob will ever drown and mobs spawn at any time in any light level. Your goal is to try and get the highest score you can, you will score 1 point for every block you move away from your spawn point, and 4 for every mob you kill on the way. You can see your score when you die.

As of 1.4, there is now an in-game shop to buy perks using crystals found throughout maps. When you see a crystal, hit it once to collect it. To access the shop, go into your inventory and click on crystal exchange at the top of your screen. Here you can trade your collected crystals for anything from gravel to enchanted swords. (Crystals will only generate on maps generated with the 1.4 version of the Armageddon Mod)

To install:
THIS MOD MAY BE BUGGY, COPY YOUR MINECRAFT.JAR TO MAKE A BACKUP OF IT THEN INSTALL THIS MOD ON THE COPIED VERSION, LEAVING THE ORIGINAL UNTOUCHED!
Just drag the files into your minecraft.jar no modloader required.

On Windows: Move to the top right corner of the window and press the red cross

Theres a bug where you lose all your crystals when you leave the game, please fix this bug it's very aggravating.

You are supposed to play until you die. If it takes you a long time to die, then turn on more of the features and turn your difficulty up. I may fix the feature in MC 1.3, but I have had no other complaints about it so it seems it isn't really a problem.

I need some help installing this mod. When I try to drag the contents from the .zip file into the .jar, Winrar stops me after I accept the dialog window, and tells me that access is denied. When I try and unzip the file into the bin folder, nothing changes about my actual game. Any help would be appreciated as to how to get this working.

You just need to put the contents of the zip folder into your minecraft.jar I don't use windows, but I assume you may not have permission to alter files within appdata? This could be because you aren't an admin on your computer or something similar. Im afraid thats about as much as I know about windows.

To install the mod, you will need to unpack your .jar. On windows right click on the .jar and open with winrar (download winrar if you don't already have it). A winrar window will open showing the files inside the jar. examples will be aa.class etc. Just drag the contents of the armageddon zip folder into the window and replace all if you are prompted. Then simply run minecraft.

This is an INCREDIBLE mod, and I am going to be doing several videos on this (with mention of course), but here is a few recommendations that you should take into account on this epicness:
  • Possibly making the point system a little more "skill" based? The fact that the farther you get from spawn gets you more points doesn't "reward" enough. Maybe more kills and crystal grabs gets you points? 
  • Second, make boats available for a cost, as going through rivers and large oceans can be very tactical with boats
  • Third, maybe spread out crafting tables around the map for people who play on no block destroy (same rarity as chests), as given that rare ability to craft would add so much more to the tactical aspect.
  • Another, maybe give an option to spawn ghasts, blazes, and silverfish more often?
  • Final, and very small, maybe make the amount of crystals you have visible until you respawn? I often look at that as my score, but as soon as I die it sets back to zero.
Anyways, fantastic mod you have and i cant wait until more is added. Truly great work.

- Agree here. Mobs do already add to the score, but I think you need to get more per mob. We are going to add crystals increasing your score also. 


- Like this idea, however we do need to hinder crossing oceans, at least adding some disadvantage to using them, as at the moment they are mob free havens for survivors. Too easy.


- I have a few issues with this. Firstly being they'd look out of place. Second, I often barely find time to open and loot a chest, let alone craft. Next, there is not a lot that can be crafted with the items available in chests, and I have no intention of giving the players more construction resources. This is hardcore run & gun survival, not building a fort style gameplay I'm afraid. Finally, the only thing I think worth crafting would be weapons and armour, which will all be available (if they are not already) in chests and/or the exchange, making crafting redundant. Putting them in chests/exchange allows us the control how rare they are and give these resources rarity that is standardized with the other perks


- Could be potentially added, although that would be difficult (You can't control the individual spawn rate, you can control the number of mobs spawned per x ticks and the percentage change of z mob spawning). I'm not sure why you'd want it though, ghasts and blazes are nasty! Currently silverfish are not spawned, but they could be if there is sufficient demand.


- Didn't know this happened, I will fix this for next update, thanks!

Keep up the great work on this fantastic mod, and your activity to feedback is nothing short of being able to easily get on the homepage. And I am with you on the silverfish idea. I would LOVE to see those added.

From the version I downloaded today, I have a few suggestions for improvement though:
  • Please make crystals appear in super flat world.
  • Hostile wolves don't seem to attack you on sight.
  • A bow cost 16 crystals, but it's not hard to make (kill 1-3 spiders).
    Maybe have an enchanted bow with power 5 for sale.
  • I know it's alot of work, but Modloader compatibility will get you alot more attention (as most other mods can't be used in combination with this one/with all the altered classes),

- We would like to add more superflat compatibility, but I'm sure you'll understand as the mod was designed for standard minecraft worlds these take priority


- The wolf issue is something we need to address but haven't gotten around to yet


- We consider playing with the ability to build 'cheating', so there should be no way to get a crafting table. We put in the feature because we accept some people will want to build, but it is not in our intentions to develop the mod from this angle.


- There will be no modloader compatibility (at least for a long while). There are reasons behind this, despite the size of the work. We both personally despise modloader, but that's another issue, in light of the soon to be released Minecraft Mod API is seems pointless to put in the word when we'll just have to recode for another API in the future.

This mod is the most fun I've had with super flat world...ever! :D
  • Evading armies of hostile mobs, stopping only to pick off small groups for spider eyes/rotten flesh/arrows.
  • Fighting through the narrow roads of an NPC village, to reach the blacksmith
    (before the town is completely beseiged).
  • Running through a gauntlet of fire/explosions/arrows and lightning.

I've wanted a combat/survival challenge for a long time in Minecraft, and you've provided just that. :D.

P.s. Thanks for the option of turning off super-charge on creepers
(Compared to all the other mobs, it's rather overpowered).

EDIT: I did now, but it isn't working... When i joined my single player, it just said ''saving chunks'' and when i made big screen, it just been black.. Can't you just try edit the names of them, so they works? :S

Unfortunately its not that simple :( To get compatibility with optifine would require decompiling optifine, then rewriting armageddon over the top of it. For now, you won't be able to run optifine with the armageddon mod.

First of all learn java, don't try and learn java through modding. Once you know java, just get the MCP, decompile minecraft and try to understand how certain things are done. Once you start to see how minecraft does things, you can then start altering or adding your own code.
