How many times have you had this problem? You start a new world, and you don't like the terrain generation. You try going online and finding some seeds, but you don't like any of them.

Well, not anymore. With the Minecraft Seed generator, One click of a button can give up to 50 seeds at a time for you to try out and play on. Best thing is, if you don't like any of the resulting worlds, you can press "clear seeds" and then you can generate more!

The Minecraft Seed Generator is a small little program that I originally coded to help myself with finding awesome seeds. About 5 minutes after I finished the first working version, I decided that it might be a good idea to post it on here for other people to enjoy.

Please Note: Because of the way Minecraft generates worlds, there is not an easy way to tell how any of the seeds produced with this program are going to turn out. With this being said, I will not guarantee awesome results with every seed.

Please report any bugs to me and I will fix them ASAP
Progress: 100% Complete
Game Version:Minecraft 1.6.2
Tags:Aesthetic

Minor version 1.4.1 : 07/30/2013 12:34:19 pm7/30/13

-Added scroll bar to seeds list (finally)
-Minor UI changes
-Program will give a small warning about possibly lagging your computer if you enter a number equal to or greater than 200.

The re-code : 07/28/2013 9:15:40 pm7/28/13

-Re-coded project
-Changed up the number generator
-Added an "Apply" button to apply changes
-Can only enter numbers less than 50 into text field now due to me not being able to add a scroll bar to the seed display

Bad News Everyone : 07/26/2013 12:34:02 pm7/26/13

Due to a mistake of my "Refreshing" my laptop, and me having to reformat my hard drive because windows got corrupt, I've lost the source for the project. Until such time as I can re-code it, This program will not be updated. However. once I re-code it, I will make some further additions to it to make it more "Unique"

Nope, C++ and C# are actually the best. Java is full of memory leaks

you should make it so that you can choose how many village strongholds abandened mineshafts or ravines ETC. Genereate in the seed.

To do that, I would have to know exactly how generation works in Minecraft. Just so you know, worlds are infinite, so there would already be an infinite number of those

That shouldn't happen, considering I coded the first version on windows 8, and then the second version I re-coded in windows 7. Your problem might be Linux, sorry to say

Wierd.... But how does this thing work? Basicly a random number generator or does it really do something special?

Basically just a random number generator, but I plan to make a mod out of this some how. Like on the screen where you can enter a seed, there will be a list of randomly generated seeds, and when you click on one, it will display a preview of the world, so you can choose which one you like. Don't know how i'm going to accomplish it, but I gotta try

In order to do that you would have to make Java run minecraft and generate the seed. But since Minecraft is compacted into Jar file so you have to copy the World generator files and some movement files (So you can move your view) And modify those files to only generate the world and not render the player, or mobs. I don't know how to code well, Although I did try and succeeded in making a block. Lol. I know how long it takes just to do that. So good luck.

I honestly do not know, but it should be. Try testing it, and report the results to me. If it doesn't work, I'll try to get a compatibility patch out:)

Not to be rude, but there IS a way to tell how it would turn out. Minecraft generation (in simple terms) uses a number, or the seed, and put it into an equation and then it uses cords (x, y, z) and block ids to choose what blocks are generated. This, of course, is limited based on other things. However, I an not the best at math, and I don't know the equation, so I would have no idea on how to do make something that finds out what blocks spawn where. On a different subject, I feel like this is kinda useless. All it is is a number generator, and Minecraft already has a way to choose a "random" seed. (They just use the time on your computer)

If there is a specific way to find out the generation, then I will try my best to find it out, and make this an actual Minecraft mod. Unfortunately, I'm not the best at math either, so it would take a while. Thank you for your honesty :)
