How am I a retard? Yes, many modders follow tutorials, but they can't copyright it because it's NOT THEIR CODE. He says "I made this" and then he COPYRIGHTS IT. Other modders who make say a obsidian sword change stuff, they don't use the EXACT same look and code.
I don't care if the YouTuber didn't copyright it before him, HE CLAIMS IT'S HIS CODE AND HAS A COPYRIGHT ON IT. I proved him wrong with lots of proof.
His mod looks the SAME. Not different in any way, THE SAME as the one on the tutorial on YouTube.


Oh look, the mod is down. I flagged it and it's down. Must be because he stole it and it's not his code.

It doesn't matter if a mod looks the same visually. Unless the code is identical in it's structure, it's not stolen. The idea can be duplicated with ease if you're a programmer, but that doesn't necessarily imply theft...

I don't think you're getting my point at all, lol.
I'm saying that anyone can copy another person's work, but unless that work is identical to original content, you can't slam them for "copyright infringement."
Like you said, copyright your stuff, and you shouldn't have any worries about that.

The problem is, the user I was complaining about used a free tutorial he found on the internet, used the exact same code, used all the same design except for the background in his application (which I can guarantee he did not make). Then he copyrights it and says its completely his and he created it all from scratch.


I reported it, and guess what? You can't find the mod anymore. PMC agrees with me, stealing content isn't cool.

No. If he copyrighted it, it would have remained. He created a counterfeit copyright. :P
But since the code is identical, and you've got the upper hand.
And yeah, I agree, thieves need to be put in their place. I'm glad you're still marked as the owner.

First of all, you are right all the way except for the skin stealer video on youtube. The code comes from me, I did the same texture pack installer a while with the same options. He got my code because when I got in his team he said he wanted to know how good I was in vb.net. I did this program in 10 minutes, and the gui took me most of the time. Then I left the team and I had realised he had stolen MY code. I learned from a youtube vid, and after I innovated. I found out new features and everyone copied it. And he cant put a copyright, he only wrote copyright, it dsnt mean it is. And even if he used Myows to copyright, he would need to put Copyright Myows, because the copyright is not assigned to him. And anyway, .NET framework is open-source, everyone can decompile it.

I wasn't talking about the creator of this mod. He replied to my comment on a different mod and that other mod has been taken down, this was the only way to reply to him.

Well I suppose if people are lazy it's useful. Does it work for mac? I don't use one, but you need a version that does.

Suggestions? Lose the background and sort out the title. It's hard to read, and it looks (no offence) silly with the rock texture. It doesn't need a minecraft background to prove it's a minecraft utility; just give it a plain background and it'll be fine.

What did you write it in? Would you be adversed to sharing the source code? I don't want to copy it, I'm just curious about how you wrote it :3

I get that it's a theme that does it for minecraft, but honestly it looks silly.... It's got "(Minecraft Edition)" in the title, so you can't really confuse them.... but the background makes it hard to read and doesn't make it look any better, you'd do best just getting rid of it.

You can't really tell me "you're not having trouble reading that".... The button is easy, but all the black text on a grey background with a noise level above 50% is difficult to read.

Nope, brightness up, still difficult. Remember; not everybody has the same eyes as you. People who are even slightly dyslexic won't have a chance, and people who are susceptible to migraine are doomed. The key rule of software, above all else, is "user friendly". Try to make it so for all users, including those who don't have eyes as good as yours.
