Sand Castles - wet sand
another video
1.4 for Minecraft 1.8.1
  • Pour water onto sand to get wet sand.
  • You can get it also by crafting sand (one or more) with water bucket.
  • Pour lava on wet sand, or set it on fire, to dry it up.
  • Wet sand doesn't fall, if:
    • it is adjacent to at least 2 sand blocks
    • or, if it is adjacent to sand block, under which is another sand block.

  • Wet sand will dry up naturally after some time. It will, however, continue hanging, if the conditions are still met.

  • Sand won't fall if it is near soulsand (good for some piston self-building towers)
How to install:
  • Download and install ModLoader.
  • Place all files from the downloaded SandCastles zip file into your minecraft.jar (overwrite existing ones).
  • Delete META-INF folder from your minecraft.jar, if it is present.
  • Enjoy!

you need Minecraft Coder Pack, ModLoader and some experience with Java.

And tutorials are at minecraftforum.net.

Downloaded. Now, can you add quicksand. I'm thinking it will be like soulsand and water but will sink down and suffocate mobs. I'm also thinking that it should let you swim on it a little if water is adjacent to it. Just a suggestion.

don't be sad, you can still make a Gravity mod :)

I thought that if the rules of wet sand applied for dirt and stone, it would be kinda funny and realistic. And for logs, of course :)

Nah, 'sokay.

I already have another project in mind...
Edit Reply Delete
You should make randomly spawned sand castles. They should have beginner goodies like stone shovels, buckets, swords, and maybe some other stuff.

@MightyPork

I love your Ideas, but some of them are just too risky, like the fungus mod you made... and sometimes, the wet sand drying up could cause a bit of anger for me... Just letting you know! ^^

hi,

fungus is risky only if you let it grow too large. Thats why I recommended in the description to farm it in a glass house. And the builder fungus is very safe, if you don't do something stupid like placing it on top of a mountain.

About wet sand - it dries up, but it doesn't mean that your buildings will fall down. Dried-up sand has the same hanging ability as wet sand, with that difference that if you mine it, you get the ordinary dry sand.

with this mod, you can build your first emergency shelter of sand, if you spawn in desert. And it won't fall onto your head, because dried sand is quite hard.
Edit Reply Delete
wouldnt the sand turn into glass with fire

Do you know how is glass really made? It needs VERY high temperature. Maybe, it could do so near lava. But not fire. I want this to be realistic.

it would b nice if u can make mud out of sand so u can eather make mud bricks or a block.....

love the said idea, but its really pricey because u lose ur bucket.. (i love to b able to make a bucket out of other things then just metal, like rock, or clay

you don't need sandstone at all!

if wet sand dries up, it won't fall if the conditions for wet sand's hanging are still met.

It can be used as a cheap building material, however not as stable as dirt.
Edit Reply Delete
Sandstone with texture pack looks cooler.its going to be a pyramid
