Right.

So, say you go mining.

And you find iron.

The normal texture for iron ore has 10 bits of iron in it.

But you find one with 6 instead.

So you mine it,

And it gives you Iron ore.

Which,

If you smelt it, gives you 6 chunks of iron.

Which you can then craft into ...

An iron ingot!

you can find iron with 2, 6 or 10 bits in them.

This happens with all the other ores as well.

I changed the texture of lapis because I hate the original one and I changed the texture of golden nugget so it fits in.

The crafting recipe is:

Installation

Open your minecraft.jar
Delete meta-inf
Drag all the modloader files into it, download HERE
Drag all of the files from the download into it

Done!

As far as I know, this is compatible with every other mod.

This update adds ...

A new name to the mod
Redstone and lapis ores now drop redstone and lapis
Crafting changed to: " X " "XXX" " X " or, in other words, a diamond shape.
Iron and gold crafting don't give you iron and gold ingots, they give you iron and gold lumps which you smelt into ingots.

May i suggest you switching to forge ?
everything is easier with it ( i'm also learning it and it's not that hard , pretty much like modloader ) , and i'm sure you'll be fine with that.

Great mod though , the idea is awesome and original :)

I really love mods that add more of a challenge to my Minecraft worlds. I was getting bored in my survival world because i had too many diamonds, and with this I wont get bored that fast.

This mod isn't perfect, there are less ores than I would have liked, and the old ones are still there, but I cannot fix that, modloader doesn't allow it...

With modloader there is a special method you have to put into your main class. Try this:

public void generateSurface(World world, Random random, int chunkX, int chunkZ){

Random randomGenerator = random;

Where it says i < 1; you can make it i < 10 for it to be about as common as iron. Where it says magicOre.blockID, 30 you can change 30 to 8 to make it spawn in packs of 8. magicOre is my block, put in your name where it applies.

I know.
I have no idea how to fix it.
If you want, just use TMI as your crafting table instead.
So, if you have 5 iron ingots and they don't craft, then delete them and give yourself 1 iron lump.

maybe the diamond and gold ore shouldn't drop bits, but carat diamonds/gold. The better the ore, the higher the carat of the dropped diamond/gold.
