RPW has a website!
rpw.ondrovo.com
----------------------------------------

> Follow @RPWapp on Twitter!

> Arch Linux users can now install RPW from AUR!

> Download for OS X (4.2.0) (packaged by Jiggy12321)

To use the OSX version, mount it as a disk image, and drag RPW app to your Apps folder

What it can do?

  • It's a tool for creating Resource Packs.
  • RPW can remix packs, create new packs, edit old ones.
  • You can add custom sounds, edit texts, images, sounds etc.
  • One-click image/audio editing using GIMP/Audacity or other application of choice
  • Uses a powerful tree structure model, great for combining packs.
  • RPW can mute sound files
  • [ TIP ] To convert your sounds to OGG, you can try online converter Media.IO

Requirements

  • To run RPW, you need Java 7+ and Minecraft 1.6.2+.
  • To use old packs (texture packs), you must first convert them with Unstitcher and Texture Ender (see Minecraft Wiki for info)

How to run it

  • On some systems, just mark the jar as executable and double-click it.
  • If it doesn't work, right click it and select Open with Java (JRE)
  • Command line option: java -jar RPW.jar

Configuring the file editors (Images, Audio, Text)

  • The application was built in Linux, and the "edit" buttons are set up to use GIMP, Audacity and Kate.
  • When used on Windows or Mac, the editors are installed somewhere else, so this won't work.
  • RPW will first try the configured editor, and if it fails, it opens your default associated program.
  • Editors can be configured in Options > Configure editors.
Progress: 100% Complete

if it starts to a gray screen, please kill it with task manager and start again.

You need to configure your external editor using the Editors dialog, I highly recommend Gimp, but other editors may work as well. MS Paint is not an option, it will fuck up transparency of the textures.

It does not have an external paint program it can go to. I highly recommend Paint.net. Microsoft Paint is very basic, so Paint.net is a good option. If you have the bucks, try photoshop, too, but I dont have a job nor the money so... XD

MightyPork, I am having some slight troublre with custom sounds.

So I have them in their proper area and I have even saved them as the right names and possibly the right place (Couldn't find Random so saved them as Neutral) but in the game they do not appear.

The sounds I changed were Zombie and Enderman death, zombie woodbreak, all 4 explode files, fallbig, fallsmall, levelup, anvil_use, enderman scream 1-4.

Any tips?

I'm not really sure. Iv'e been having the same problem. It's something with the MCMeta file not being there. If you look at the top row where it says "Resource Files | Assigned | Resolved | PROJ | META" Look down the META column  to see if it's checked. That stupid texture is most likely cause of the meta not being correct. Now, how to get it to actualy work, is a mystery. Hope that helps.

Im not sure what to edit for amor.  Since the png only has a frontal view ... how will that edit the sides and rears?

Perhaps i'm missing something ... any assistance is greatly appreciated.
Edit Reply Delete
well, if you're still interested, the "front view" should have all the sides there, but laid out in a 2D format, so you would have to edit it based on the sides that the textures would be sent to. I honestly didn't really need that for my textures, what part I edited the most was the helmet, and I could see which part was the helmet :P

but yeah, it's complicated, but if you're seeing something else there, it's probably the item format.

yes, you have a problem :P

I can't add support for all of the strange unofficial launchers people use (even Dinnerbone discouraged using those).

If you know java, you can try to add support - send a pull request. Othwer'wise you'll have to run MC using the vanilla launcher to generate the asset files RPW imports.

First, at least once run Minecraft in the version you want.
Then start RPW, go to menu Library and select "Re-extract vanilla assets" (or something like that, not sure now lol)
It will offer you Minecraft version to extract, so pick the one you want.
Hope that helps.

btw: Current RPW has a bug, so changing lang files and sounds will not work. Everything else should be OK.

Excuse me.

It seems that whan I attempt to start this up in 1.8.1, it gets to 80%, finds 2 mods (Pixelmon and Rei's Minimap for 1.7) and then stops responding. The Pixelmon mod does have textures, do I have to remove it for this to work?

I can't help much here, I've heard of this situation and was never able to reproduce it. Try without mods and see if it helps.

Also, check in the Runtime log, if there's anything of any use - it could give a hint on what is wrong. Look out for warnings and errors... if nothing helps, submit the log in a bug report on GitHub (LINK)

ps the log can be found in .mcRPW, similar place like .minecraft.

the armor items are in items somewhere, actual armor should be in entities, there'll be folder for it.

You simply use larger images for the items and blocks, there's really nothing more to it.

In your editor, resize the image to what you want..

Also, newly, there's a "Stitcher" / "Unstitcher" feature accessible from the menus, so you can export it to one large image with all the textures. There, you can also specify what size you want (like the 64px) - I think. I did not create this tool.

=== IMPORTANT ===

There is a bug in RPW (been there for quite a while), so if you use Minecraft version 1.7 or newer, editing lang and sounds with RPW will not work properly (it exports to a wrong location in the resource pack).

Also, the custom sounds editor will probably not work, but I am not sure about that.

>>> Here's a bug report related to it, with instructions how to manually fix it.

A proper fix, 3.9.1, will be released later this month!

Installed this and now Minecraft won't launch.

I didn't even edit anything. Any idea what's going on?

Certainly nothing related to RPW.
