>>> Read changelog, so you know what's new!

What it can do?

  • It's a tool for creating Resource Packs.
  • RPW can remix packs, create new packs, edit old ones.
  • You can add custom sounds, edit texts, images, sounds etc.
  • One-click image/audio editing using GIMP/Audacity or other application of choice
  • Uses a powerful tree structure model, great for combining packs.
  • RPW can mute sound files
  • [ TIP ] To convert your sounds to OGG, you can try online converter Media.IO

  • To run RPW, you need Java 6+ and Minecraft 1.6.2+.
  • To use old packs (texture packs), you must first convert them with Unstitcher and Texture Ender (see Minecraft Wiki for info)

How to run it

  • On some systems, just mark the jar as executable and double-click it.
  • If it doesn't work, right click it and select Open with Java (JRE)
  • Command line option: java -jar RPW.jar

Configuring the file editors (Images, Audio, Text)

  • The application was built in Linux, and the "edit" buttons are set up to use GIMP, Audacity and Kate.
  • When used on Windows or Mac, the editors are installed somewhere else, so this won't work.
  • RPW will first try the configured editor, and if it fails, it opens your default associated program.
  • Editors can be configured in Options > Configure editors.

First, at least once run Minecraft in the version you want.
Then start RPW, go to menu Library and select "Re-extract vanilla assets" (or something like that, not sure now lol)
It will offer you Minecraft version to extract, so pick the one you want.
Hope that helps.

btw: Current RPW has a bug, so changing lang files and sounds will not work. Everything else should be OK.

Excuse me.

It seems that whan I attempt to start this up in 1.8.1, it gets to 80%, finds 2 mods (Pixelmon and Rei's Minimap for 1.7) and then stops responding. The Pixelmon mod does have textures, do I have to remove it for this to work?

I can't help much here, I've heard of this situation and was never able to reproduce it. Try without mods and see if it helps.

Also, check in the Runtime log, if there's anything of any use - it could give a hint on what is wrong. Look out for warnings and errors... if nothing helps, submit the log in a bug report on GitHub (LINK)

ps the log can be found in .mcRPW, similar place like .minecraft.

You simply use larger images for the items and blocks, there's really nothing more to it.

In your editor, resize the image to what you want..

Also, newly, there's a "Stitcher" / "Unstitcher" feature accessible from the menus, so you can export it to one large image with all the textures. There, you can also specify what size you want (like the 64px) - I think. I did not create this tool.

There is a bug in RPW (been there for quite a while), so if you use Minecraft version 1.7 or newer, editing lang and sounds with RPW will not work properly (it exports to a wrong location in the resource pack).

Also, the custom sounds editor will probably not work, but I am not sure about that.

>>> Here's a bug report related to it, with instructions how to manually fix it.

A proper fix, 3.9.1, will be released later this month!

When RPW is open (with your project active), click in the right sidebar on the "folder" icon, it should open the Project directory in your file manager.

There's a folder for those files called "included_files", what you put there will be included in the output ZIP.

Please note: After you close RPW or the project in RPW, this folder will become invalid! Any changes done to it will be lost!

Java programs run in the java interpreter, they are not directly executable normally.
See the section above called "How to run it". Normally you open a shell terminal, navigate to where you downloaded, copied, or installed RPW.jar, and type "java -jar RPW.jar". You might have to install the java run time environment using your software manager if java is not found.

Using RPW, is there any way to rename the blocks for a custom resource pack, instead of having the names of the vanilla files show up in game?
For example changing the "Bedrock", to "HardRock",

Also i am am having problems with files being reset to the default textures when i open rpw and having to start all over. Should i be editing the TMP folder the program keeps trying to open from or should i open and save it from the Projects folder?

If you get stuck at 80% when searching for mods open your "task manager" and close the task that sais something with mods. If you get stuck after that go to "task manager" and close "information" or something like that.

Gets stuck at 80%. Problem is, THERE ARE NO MODS. 1.7.10, 1.7.9, and 1.6.4 are all 100% vanilla. But it freezes at 80% while looking for mod files on all of them. Do I seriously need to install a mod just so it doesn't crash while searching for mods?
