Update #144 : 04/15/2014 12:08:41 am4/15/14

Fixed another map not drawing after zooming bug.
Coordinate map image coordinates, getting rid of occasional  map judder when moving.
Improved biome label placement algorithm to try to keep labels in their biome, even if the biome circumscribes a concave shape.
Moved biome label calculation off the main thread.
Fixed potential blocking issue between map calculation thread and main thread.
Better support for custom biome shading, particularly swamps.
Biome shading and CTM support now handles blocks and biomes identified by name instead of just ID.
Fix for transparent texture displaying over leaves causing too bright pixel.

Update #143 : 04/03/2014 2:52:46 pm4/03/14

Shaders Mod compatibility fix.  Auto generated icons (from mod provided mobs) are no longer large dark squares, but should look like units again.  Also mob icons in general no longer have annoying smaller versions of themselves at the upper left

Update #142 : 04/02/2014 8:22:41 am4/02/14

CTM fixed on blocks when the textures are using names that aren't numbers D:

Added new biomeOverlay feature.  Turn on biomeOverlay and switch to fullscreen map ;)

Update #141 : 03/31/2014 3:27:52 am3/31/14

argh completely broke auto icon creation for mod mobs.  Fixed

Update #140 : 03/30/2014 1:28:45 pm3/30/14

fix small possibility of map being left blank after changing zoom (until changing zoom again).  Yay multithreading!

added waypoint sort by color.  It's sort by hue really, so doesn't take into account light vs dark.  There's no way to organize the full color spectrum in a one dimensional list.  If you look at the color picture image, it's obvious you can't really even do it in 2 dimensions.  So sort by hue.  Because there was room for one more sort option, and I included it in the internationalization files :D

Also redid MCPatcher / Optifine loading of CTM and custom biome shading to allow for blocks that are both CTM and custom shaded (had been one or the other before)

Update #139 : 03/27/2014 10:01:37 pm3/27/14

Update #138 : 03/25/2014 1:03:09 am3/25/14

  • Sort waypoints by name, distance or date created (ascending or descending)
  • Fix for cards that supported FBOs but not OpenGL1.4 (possible fix for white minimap on some cards)

  • more robust handling of non standard mob skin sizes.  Improperly sized
skin, if it causes an error, will mean that one icon isn't loaded, where
before it meant none were loaded

description replaced with request to help get a Mojang bug fixed.

also uploaded completely refactored Forge version of VoxelMap for people to try

Update #136 : 03/15/2014 3:56:37 am3/15/14

fix complete brokenness (immediate crash) with FML standalone (no full forge installed)

More robust protected variable accessing, should eliminate any illegalAccessErrors

also fix for no-name .points files backported to 1.6.4

Update #135 : 03/08/2014 7:27:40 pm3/08/14

fix for java ipv6 error causing points files to save as ".points" (no name) causing waypoint saving to occasionally not work for people

updated language:
Greek, by alexcy98

Update #134 : 03/03/2014 9:08:31 pm3/03/14

semi experimental update
new stencil mode for AMD cards (doesn't work on nVidia, those will continue to use FBO unless they are super old - then stencilling is done in java 2d).  This may be a fix for people who get a blank map image, but I don't know for sure because not a single one of them has been able to tell me what graphics card they are using.

Moving away from static integers for particular block types that are handled specially, in preparation for Searge's quest to make sure IDs aren't necessarily the same between worlds / servers

Update #133 : 02/25/2014 12:23:20 pm2/25/14

This is not for 1.7.4 don't get your hopes up, MCP is pretty dead

Update #132 : 02/22/2014 4:30:34 am2/22/14

Update #131 : 02/12/2014 6:53:41 am2/12/14

don't crash when installed on server (dunno why anyone would want to do this, it does literally nothing there)

when checking for existence of old waypoint directories, don't create them if they aren't there

easter egg re-enabled

Update #130 : 01/26/2014 10:24:16 am1/26/14

now works with FML standalone (works slightly better with full Forge though) thanks killjoy1221 for doing some work on that

Functions with Better PVP (map now explicitly enables GL_ALPHA_TEST in case something else - like better PVP - has disabled it)

Some cleanup of FBO handling. Might work better with shaders, though I still have no issue with them here (and I did in 1.6.4)

Update #129 : 01/20/2014 10:15:11 am1/20/14

fix for permission error re: cave/radar

Update #128 : 01/19/2014 9:37:45 pm1/19/14

just FYI new version is up that fixes the VOxelmapProtectedFieldsHelper error some people were getting (primarily with mods that have custom mobs based on regular minecraft bipeds). Fix has been up a while, but I'm still getting reports ocasionally, so if you have that, download again

Update #122 : 10/04/2013 12:18:41 pm10/04/13

bunch of built in icons removed in favor of the dynamically created kind (which respond to texture packs etc). Among other things, Millenaire villagers now show up as individuals

Update #121 : 10/03/2013 8:12:31 pm10/03/13

Forge helmets with custom models (ie Twilight Forest knightly helmet) should show
see http://www.planetminecraft.com/blog/voxelmap---forge-custom-helmet-models/

also randomobs now works for automatically created icons (for mobs added by mods). Even without randomobs installed, this allows display of mobs that use the same model but have a different skin (like Twilight Forest tiny birds, or Mo Creatures' various bears)

Bit experimental, please let me know if something breaks.

I am having a problem when using this on version 1.7.2. There is no crash or anything, but the whole minimap just appears completely white, thus making it pretty useless other than the waypoints, but I mainly want to use it to see what's around me. Any advice?

the map is perfect have been using since ever (i am even the person who suggested teleportation) anyways.... can you add a button or some kind of option for updating waypoints? (the coordinates , i mean)
i hate having to delete the waypoint then making a new one to have the coordinates changed.

Also, can you please change the .points file for servers to save by name or MOTD but not ip. becuase sometimes i play survival with my friends and sometimes we play adventure maps or try modpacks so we change the world but not the ip becuase i am the host and i always connect to localhost so i see all my waypoints while playing adventure maps or other unrelated worlds. Anyway keep up the good work!

updating waypoints: have you never clicked the edit button in the waypoints list, just to see what it does? ;)  You can change everything about a waypoint: name, coordinates, color, which dimensions it shows in..

I didn't think name was a good thing to save as since a player can change it at any time.  MOTD is even more volatile.  IP is the least likely to change of all of those IMHO.  I might be open to switching to name (dunno how often players change that really, and it could be useful if a server does change IP - the player could continue referring to it by the same name and have his points maintained).  will think about it

ExDoublez

when i meant updating i mean that when i press edit there would be  a button beside coordinates that says update which takes my current coordinates instead of having to manually change it by using f3 then typing it.

about the name thing.. you may be right but you could add this little gear icon beside fav. servers which you can click and change the way the points save or have multiple .point files which wil be added together into a folder or something. it could also result in even map makers providing the files with the map!

MamiyaOtaru
Level 93
Elite Programmer
April 22, 2014, 1:35 pm

ok, but manually typing coordinates is not deleting a wapoint then making a new one ;)

multiple save files get s a little hairy, deciding which one is authoritative.  if I started using names, I would probably only save that way (though continue looking for files saveed with IP so nothing was lost)

regarding mapmakers shipping .points files, are you suggesting storing points files in the save folder with the map data?

This minimap is amazing. It's replaced the two mapping mods I was using before (RadarBro and Rei's Minimap).

The only thing missing is the dropped item display functionality that RadarBro had. There's nothing worse than accidentally dropping items and not realizing it until after they've despawned. If you could add this feature, you'd be my hero.

Thanks for making the best minimap out there!

It remembers where you died. ;) That's really the only situation where you would accidently drop items.

well to be fair, I have accidentally dropped stuff before haha

but it's such an infrequent occurrence for me that adding something like that is rather low priority

Hello. Love the mod! It's my preferred map :3

However, I've been having some trouble....
This modpack on Technic: http://www.technicpack.net/modpack/details/dlcs-dont-eat-the-stone
Is one of my favorites, and it unfortunately has Rei's Minimap. I removed Rei's and installed yours, and it seems to be loading it properly, but upon entering the world, no map is present. I looked in the controls section and none of the controls for the mod are there like usual. None of the map buttons work, even though it shows up in the mod list. It's just not working no matter what I try...
Could you please help me?

Dude currently after 1.7.2 there has been no actual game changing updates 1.7.9 just adds a potential "name changing" thing. 1.7.2 has all the blocks render capabilities. And to get forge just download forge 1.7.2 no need to updaye forge for some MC update that does not do anything. Just get forge 1.7.2

so I'm going to need a little more information than that.  Because believe it or not that's not typical behavior, so it's not like I can read your problem and say "oh yeah it's because of this".

You could start with which version you are using (try the latest one maybe), and maybe the name of your world and whether there is a .points file in mods/thevoxelbox/voxelmap

Also, one more suggestion, but its not really as serious as the other one, I dont really care as much for this one. If you could make a bukkit plugin of this mod and whenever someone goes on a server that has the plugin, they could select it to use the servers waypoints and you would need to be a op to make a new waypoint, or you could just make it on your local machine, and it wouldnt show up for everyone else on the server.

I have a suggestion, Me and my sister love to play on LAN worlds a lot and when we do, every time we connect it chooses a different port. So my sugestion is to make some type of list, so that i can name it and select it when I go onto a LAN world or maybe if a server changed its IP address (although unlikely) it would be really useful, thanks :)

not a bad idea.  Allow for manual selection of a waypoint list in addition to or instead of the automatic loading.  The automatic loading should really work with LAN worlds though, if the map detects it is on the same local network as the server it doesn't use ports at all.  If it isn't naming the .points file right (usernameOfTheHost - worldname.points IIRC) that's a bug.  Which minecraft version are you running the mod with?

I havent used it recently on LAN worlds, but I remember in the past it was like that.

Will it show portaits for mobs from other mods? I've got Mo Creatures mod.

it will attempt to create icons for unknown mobs.  handmade icons can also be supplied.  If it's not showing be sure you downloaded the forge version
