After months of planning and building, the Quarter Scale Star Destroyer is finally finished!! Standing at 440 meters long, 254 meters wide, and 124 meters high, this is the largest project I have ever completed in Minecraft. I don't think my computer could handle hosting a server for people to see it, so I'll just upload the schematic for all to see. Thanks for the support!

Additional Notes

Youtube video and schematic uploaded! If you plan on using the Star Destroyer in a picture or video, please give me some credit. I'm not asking for much, just a simple "This star destroyer was built by TheFro2".
Progress: 100% Complete

Update #11 : 02/15/2011 1:12:02 pm2/15/11

It is finished! It took me forever, but I finally got this thing built!

Update #10 : 01/29/2011 9:09:20 am1/29/11

Forget everything I said about building this in single player. %$#& THAT! I used Cartograph to get a detail of how many blocks there are in the SD. There are:

194150 Stone
17828 Cobble
Solid Diamond: 4564 Solid Diamond Blocks
392 Lighstone

Which means I will need to find:

24269 Coal (since it smelts 8 cobble per piece)
211978 Mined Stone (Smooth Stone + Cobble)
41076 Diamond (9 Diamonds = 1 Solid Diamond Block)
3528 Lightstone Dust (9 Lighstone Dust = 1 Lightstone block)

Looks like I'm going to have to hunt for a server that is willing to let me build there.

Well that was unexpected... : 01/28/2011 6:53:19 pm1/28/11

I just found out that the admin of the server where I was building the SD has closed the server. He says he is tired of running a server. I respect that, so now I am in the process of finding another server. I may just build it in single player. God help me if I do...

Update #8 : 01/22/2011 7:16:37 pm1/22/11

The admin of the server was kind enough to dig out a massive hole for me to build in. However, it came with a price: RAM. The server is having a hard time dealing with this unexpected loss in a huge amount of blocks, so the building process will be delayed some more.

Update #7 : 01/22/2011 9:19:12 am1/22/11

Finito!! I have just finished the plans for the Star Destroyer! And now comes the most difficult part of the project: building it.

Update #6 : 01/21/2011 8:42:57 am1/21/11

Success! What may possibly be the second most difficult part of the ship has been completed! Now I move on to what I consider the most difficult: the rear of the ship. Yes, I know. You are probably thinking "Well, Fro. I thought you already did this part." Actually, I have not. I have only done the engines. In case you didn't know, there is a slanted/caved-in back of the ship that sort of completes the exterior. I shall be working on this one sometime in the near future. I am so close! After the rear is finished, I shall add a few minute details.... and then build the %&$@ thing!!

Update #5 : 01/17/2011 9:10:43 am1/17/11

Edited the bridge/command center. It is now ~20 meters longer and has the deflector shields and communications tower added. If you don't follow Star Wars and yet somehow are reading this, it's the round thingies and bar thingy at the top of the hexagonal thingy.

Progress is getting along a little better than expected. Should be able to finish the design in a few weeks. Then it's all uphill from there. :)

Update #4 : 01/11/2011 2:53:17 am1/11/11

I feel like I haven't updated my progress in a while, so I uploaded a pic of what has been accomplished so far. The verdict? Not much has been accomplished lol.

Expect a delay in progress as I am just now starting my second semester of college this year.

Update #3 : 01/06/2011 2:15:33 am1/06/11

Do you know how hard it is to make straight lines and edges on a starship with one meter cubes? Extremely hard. This thing is going to take a very, very, very long time to complete. And I have to return to college in only three days. So expect delays.

Update #2 : 01/03/2011 2:24:17 pm1/03/11

Finished the engines. I'm quite proud with how the look, to be honest. Uploaded a picture of them.

Update #1 : 01/02/2011 12:00:00 pm1/02/11

Started work on the engines. Shouldn't take too long, especially since I have a week left for break.

why do you use MCEDIT. do you always make things with MCEdit or do u change over time, because im making Masyaf from AC without MCedit and coming along nicely, im around 50-60% done i think it is closely to 1:1 scale if not than around 1:1.3
Edit Reply Delete
this star destroyer isn't "to scale" as the title says. a imperial II-class star destroyer is 1,600 metres in length and this is only 440.
Edit Reply Delete
Read the description next time...it says "Quarter Scale"
Edit Reply Delete
change the title to 1:4

I just finished a near replica of this on a survival server called MineTown. It took me about 33 hours of straight building to complete it, and it looks pretty awesome. Excellent schematic, and easy to work with, thank you.

The auction for it is at http://www.minetown.net/forum/m/672632/viewthread/3781069-auction-440x254x124-star-destroyer/page/1

Hey could anyone here make a super star destroyer to scale (dont mind what scale aslong as it is big) but leave inside hollow and i will make them admin on a server. if u wnt to do this plz pm me with your name and what scale it will be.
Edit Reply Delete
i hope you realize that a super star destroyer is 19,000 meters. that woud be 19,000 blocks in length. considering that this star destroyer is only 440 meters, a project the magnitude of a super star destroyer is impossible.

This is really the best star destroyer I've seen. 10 outta 10. I've been adding an interior and all manner of things star wars related, Tie fighters, AT-AT's, barracks, shuttles, meditation chamber, detention center, weapons bays, bacta tanks, turret controls, comm areas etc. etc. etc.(I'm taking quite a bit of liberty designing the interior, not really based off of anything official) I'm using single player but would love to upload a schematic if i ever finish.Provided its alright with the original creator. (with proper credit given to you of course)

EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS IS ENOURMOUS!! I dunno how you managed to build that. And its only a 1/4 scale? I guess my dreams of building the Death Star in minecraft 1/1 have been flawed. =( Nonetheless, epic epic epic are the only words i can say about this beast! =D

Lol thanks man. And don't let the fact that Minecraft has limited height ruin your dreams. I think there is a mod out there that lets you adjust the height limit to your desire, so a full-scale Death Star is in fact possible ;)

the death star is 160km in diameter which means the world would have to be 160,000x160,000x160,000=4,096,000,000,000,000(four thousand and ninety six million million) blocks. if one block is a byte that's 4096TB. you would need to rent dozens of servers to store the world save. but it is possible.

I feel I should mention that the interior is completely hollow. I made it this way so when you download it, you can build inside it without having to worry about taking apart a bunch of blocks. Also, I really didn't feel like including a bunch of corridors, generators, and whatnot.

Maybe Darth Vader's meditation chamber? It's in the Super Star destroyer but if lego can put it in a regular one than so can you :). A detailed command bridge... More stuff around the hangar with supplies for the landing squads... firing control centers... ect... I would love to help you but to what I understand it is on a single player world.
P.S. Star Destroyers have a second little hangar bay for shuttles in front of the larger one.

You know, that doesn't seem so bad. Sure, I would be glad to work on this after mid-terms.

Also, I suppose I could add more detail to the exterior, like those random blocks and towers you see on the outside of a normal Star Destroyer.

This is Zaralith, host of Zar's Awesome Server. In exchange for some help with my Moria project, I would be willing to host yours and give assistance. The only stipulation will be that I won't be giving you all of those materials. When you are at the end i can give you the diamonds, and I have more than enough cobble and probably more than enough coal for the smelting of all of it, but you will need to cut the trench yourself. I assume that this is built right above the start of the bedrock layer? in any case, I have strong teleport commands and worldedit to help clear stuff with a super-pickaxe and what-not. If it is too much, We can think of something else that might work better.

just realized. Since cloth is out, there is an alternative to diamond blocks. I would actually prefer that since a giant circle of cloth is less likely to be taken than a giant circle of diamonds. And I have absolutely no problems giving you huge amounts of cloth with /give.
