Hi this is Simple from China
During the past two month I have been working on my new project: 1:1 Shanghai Tower and now the construction of the building is almost complete (the decoration and lighting are on going).
It is the world's second-tallest and Chinese tallest building with a height 632m (exactly 632 blocks in minecraft)
designed by the American architectural firm Gensler and constructed by Shanghai Construction Group
poster and current rendering:
Because the height limitation in Minecraft is 256 blocks and the whole tower is 632 blocks, I decided to cut the tower into three component and build them one by one.In general, the construction follows the order: external curtain wall and its flexible support structure → concrete structure and horizontal support →core tube, internal curtain wall and floors → decoration and lighting. And it's important to mention that the tower crown is built separately because its iron structure is different from the tower body.
During the construction in Minecraft, I use Worldedit(we) as the main tool and MCedit as a complement. the tower‘s shape is rotating and zooming when the height is increasing, and this design creates a lot difficulties during the construction of external curtain wall. First I use geometry equations and trigonometric functions to work out the outline of the curtain wall every additional 70m ( every 70m the tower rotates 15°, and it's easy for calculating). Then I use convex function paired with //stack to build every floor, countless manual modifications is needed to make the shape looks smooth.
The internal curtain wall and floors also requires the same rotation angle as the external curtain wall
and a plugin of we called MagicCircle is used
By the way, here are some videos i recorded and uploaded in a Chinese website (why not YouTube is because the FireWall blocked it = =)
construction tour:

the process of one zone's internal curtain wall, floors and core tube:

Because the construction of tower crown is not completed, so I will gives the illustrations next time
and hope you guys like this projects, and that you Diamond, Favorite, and Subscibe!
