a 1-1 (ish) reconstruction of Balamb Garden from Final Fantasy VIII

Using a combination of the Garden on the Voxel Box, and shots from FF8 as a reference,

I have aimed to recreate this facility as accurately as manecraft will allow me to.

I used a combination of MC edit and hand placement to build this up from scratch.

I have completed most of the external layout, and am now

focused on the interior and facility nodes (i.e. the infirmary, car park, training area, dorms etc)

comments on what needs improvement, which facility nodes you would prefer me to prioritize etc. are greatly welcomed.

Additional Notes

This should be used with The Voxel Box's texture pack. the majority of the construction is bedrock.

Also, don't get too attached to your current copy, and check back often, I will regularly update my progress.

Latest Update:
Right, I've begun intergrating my garden into a world, the easiest way I know how
(clear a 350 diamiter block ring and dump it on there)
In actualy have another map with some actual terrain intergration, but nthats a slow process. If there is demand for it, I'll release that nversion toonn

** Re added the quad

Update #5 : 08/14/2011 6:26:01 am8/14/11

Added the skeletons of a few nodes, including the infirmary and library. Began cleaning and trimming some of the messy areas left over from production. Having to manually do a lot.

Update #4 : 08/12/2011 7:18:56 am8/12/11

Re-done the dorms, (generically easier to navigate).

Begun work on the Quad

Laid out the foundation for the infirmary

a few other changes, etc.

Update #3 : 08/11/2011 1:13:27 am8/11/11

Added the dorms, still nu-furnished, but their there,

Update #2 : 08/10/2011 9:22:40 am8/10/11

Continuing work on the interior, Have moved my building project from my world, into a flat environment, which should allow for easier integration into your own worlds, but ultimately this is to facilitate the facility nodes. aside from that, there are a few additional changes, which you may or may not notice.

I would also appreciate some of your comments on what needs improvement, which facility nodes you would prefer me to prioritize etc.

Update #1 : 08/09/2011 10:03:35 am8/09/11

Added side viewing platforms, and created a basic structure for classrooms and engress points on the main elevator shaft.

Are you planning to do only the central part or also the rest of "nodes" like the training zone, the gardens,...?

Thanks that will help with my underwater city build. I built the domes first and am now building in them. Some is with MCEdit but the part that's not that I do in game I find myself getting lost. With a map HUD I can look at it and see what part of the city I'm in.

If your wondering I want to use that ring for the top of the tall building coming out of the water in the center. Since its big and the only above water structure that is also my entrance I want something fancy for the center.

Also you are doing the control room in the lower levels of it right?

After this I dare you to make one of it flying. In fact I dare you to make the different stages of it transforming and then show the pics in succession from the same spot and out them together and make a little video.

Oh and thanks I wanted something at the center of my city the glow stone and glass ring floating above a skyscraper will no nicely. One small suggestion. The arms on the ring would look nice as glow stone. Don,t you just love MCEdit?

I have actually been building this to allow for the possibility of conversion to a flying model, which is why I replicated the patterns on the front and back.
