Back in November 1990, Southwest Airlines unveiled the Lone Star One, the first to feature a state flag – to honor Texas, the airline’s home state.
After 25 years of service in which this Boeing 737-300 (N352SW • MSN 24888 • LN 1942) logged over 80,000 hours, it finally reached the end of its career and it was written off last May.
Despite the retirement of the aircraft, the Lone Star One legacy goes on, now in a Boeing 737-700 (N931WN • MSN 36637 / LN 2799), which from now and on will wear the flag of the State of Texas, and it’s the latest to feature the airline’s Heart livery.
To date, Southwest Airlines has painted 11 State-themed aircraft: Arizona One, California One, Colorado One, Florida One, Illinois One, Maryland One, Missouri One, Nevada One, New Mexico One, Tennessee One… and of course, the Lone Star One.
Texas is also a state that I'd call home and feel most identified with personally, having spent quite some time of my life there.
I hope you enjoyed this 1.5:1 minecraft recreation of Southwest's Lone Star One as much as I did making it! It truly is a unique and colorful airplane.
