This is another project in my custom terrain series which was requested a while back. The main theme of this one is a desert environment with a few other features included.

Like my other terrain projects I used the worldpainter app to create most of the land along with worldedit and MCedit for some small detailing. The land size that was custom made was 512x but I decided it looked to small and the void area too close so I added some random hills and mountains ranges to the outside area to make it 1024x.

The map features a large desert area covering the whole terrain with a few small oasis type areas added in. In addition, I also included some large dune like hills, a few mountains, a section with some sand spires, some deep pits with large cave systems attached and also a few different sized pyramids.

The world save land size is 1024x1024 with the outlying desert, while the schematics land size is 512x512 and only contains the main part of the land.

Great map except it's a snow biome in 1.4.7 and now my custom world on a mod pack is GONE because of this. I can remove the snow in mcedit but that'll removed the custom content...

Is it ok if I use this as a base for my new custom map? I'm gonna transform the sand to stone and mycelium so it looks like earth after the apocalypse and this custom terrain looks perfect for my map! :) Your name will of course be in the credits, and I'm going to give the map a diamond :D Please answer as fast as you can!

I tried to use the World Painter app for my server's map (two large "continents" with several islands of varying size in between). I didn't pay any attention to the distance scale, and now you have to swim a 4,000 block ocean to get to the enemy. Yeah, that went well.

I love the map, the only flaw i see in it is it looks very strange inside the pyramids, theres lots of water and lava everywhere, otherwise, amazing.

Amazing! I really like how your work looks like. When I play on the maps you make, I feel as if I'm really in a different, blocky dimension. I have a request, may be a bit difficult but have you read The Hunger Games
?
If you could make the first map based on the description they give I'd be very grateful. It has a big lake on one side on the others there are dense forests with small rivers. Past some of the forests are either valleys, mountains or snowy areas. Once again this will be difficult. Thanks.

This is one of the few maps I've ever bothered to download. As my current computer is broken and I'm stuck using a Windows computer (which I don't know how to install things on) I've been doing a lot of vanilla Minecraft. Normally, this type of Minecraft bores me, but I'd just like to let you know that I've truly been enjoying this type of Minecraft with your map.

You know I would really love a biome of a rainforest. With waterfalls and actual tall mountains. Of course, however, this means small caves but it would be nice.

It's crazy you mention that because I have actually been testing that exact idea a little bit the last few days with the MCEdit forester script. One of the problems I found was that under a thick canopy of the rainforest trees it would be really dark, and the script places the trees randomly in a cone shape which can be a pain to place them evenly. I think it would be really cool tho and plan on trying a few other ways that might work a bit better.

You could try mountain ranges with meadows? Use high grass everywhere, look at the landscapes on desktopography.net for inspiration.

iv seen a hell lot of snow baced survial... purhaps you should do an Amazon like forest... with lakes covering the map... and a giant waterful, like the one in africa (i forgot the name of it)
