Cyprice - | The City of Falling Water |
No one knows why the ancient waterfall flows freely. Many scholars believed it would run itself dry, but defying all known laws of physics, the water continues to pour endlessly into the vast crystal lake below. Some believe it to be a gift from Notch. Some claim that the cavern behind the falls conceals a secret within its dusky depths. Some even wonder whether the Quarmarine tree's roots feed into the magic. Nonetheless, the founders of Cyprice saw its potential for sustainable life.
The city has come a long way from the day the land was discovered. The last living founder, who is also the current mayor of Cyprice, never expected the city to become such a complex and unique living space. There's even a house available -- Steve can rest easy, knowing that they have found a forever home.

POWER
The endless waterfall is an excellent source for power and energy, which is why the founders decided to harness it with a hydroelectric power plant. The power plant generates enough electricity to fuel a giant pump within the lake, which moves water through canals that form the infrastructure of the city. The waterfalls between city tiers generate additional electricity.
TRANSPORTATION
Instead of roads, Cyprice takes advantage of the abundance of water and instead uses canals and boats for transportation. Waterfalls between tiers act as cargo drops. Any travel that happens up tiers either happens through swimming or by climbing the giant quartz stairs. There are many places where villagers can rent boats for quick transportation. The giant pump underneath the city's structure moves water through all the canals by pushing it up the pillars and into the top tier where city hall is located. It then recirculates and falls back down to the lake to repeat the process.
FOOD
The island may be small, but the lake is rich with aquatic life. Not wanting to disturb the gentle ecosystem, the city expanded vertically instead. The soil surrounding the lake is quite silty, so fishing has become more of the focus than farming. Cyprice maintains very small farms to provide a variety of food to its residents, but the majority of a Cyprisian's diet will consist of seafood. There are also some ranches that maintain a healthy herd of livestock for other animal products, such as eggs, milk, and wool. These products help keep city shops and vendors in business.
HOUSING
The wealthier residents have dwelling spaces on higher tiers to avoid busy canal traffic. There is a guild hall for the city workers to live in, and boat rental garages for merchants who need to transport cargo. White-collar residents are able to live in small homes or apartments. There is always more room to expand housing underground in the island.
WASTE
The water pump has the ability to pull out any pollution and impurities in the water to clean it and refine anything else into oil that can be used as fuel for the blacksmith's forge.
OTHER RESOURCES
The land beneath the lake is rich in minerals, and the villagers of Cyprice are able to mine any resources that they might need. The Cypress trees that are native to this island are very easy to grow in the silty soil and provide all of the lumber that the city might need. The lakebed is also home to lots of clay, which is an excellent building material for new houses.
