I've worldpainted a fair share of maps for a number of servers and normally i try to make transitions as elegant and subtle as possible. This results into a lot of surface which isn't really one or another area, and because the transitions are so smooth, the changes are so subtle you don't notice it untill it really hits you. I decided to take a break from some commissions and take on a project for me, throw my usual way of doing it overboard and trying to make a terrain with as much variety as i could think of, and also to experiment with a few new features in worldpainter.
The end result you can see in the images and in the video. It's a big world, but in general, you can run from one area into another in a matter of minutes, making it a dynamic map. I was going for a fantasy RPG world feel, big open worlds with stylized terrain. In the download you'll find a map i call "Jigsaw", which is a jigsaw puzzle of a few cutouts from "Magna Mundus". You can check out what is possible with Worldpainter if you want, or try out a few buildstyles in the variety of terrains on the map.
Magna Mundus itself is not public at this time.
This project is also a sort of 1500 subs celebration, let me take this opportunity to thank all my subscribers. It's great knowing so many people are interested in following what i'm doing and it's a great motivation to keep doing my very best on projects, because i do not want to dissapoint you all :) so thank you again!
