This is an exact replica of the Oost-Indisch Zeemagazijn in Amsterdam. It was built in the 17th century, the golden age of Holland. It was one of the biggest buildings in the city (177 x 20 x 22 m.), designed by Daniël Stalpaert. It was built for al the goods the VOC brought from asia on big ships. It was located at the island Oostenburg in Amsterdam, next to the shipyard of the VOC. But in 1822, the building collapsed because of the weight of al the grain that was stored there.
I based my build on a lot of old paintings and drawings of the building. It was very difficult to find pictures of the back and the sides of the building. but then i found a design from 1822 to rebuild a part of the building, with a new building next to it (Het Nieuwe Zeemagazijn). That building still exists, but it doesn't look like the original design anymore because it was converted into an apartment block.
