Hello,
My name is Andy_34. What you see above is my semi-automatic "Obsidian Generator".
You simply place one Redstonedust into the hole of the wall which is automaticly replaced with Obsidian. This process takes about 2.6 sec. (mining Obsidian needs another 15sec. )
Please remember you can only mine Obsidian using a Diamond Pickaxe as provided here.
Redstonedust can be found at the bottom of the map. You require an Iron Pickaxe to mine it successfully and receive 4-5 Redstonedust per ore.

Comment if there are problems (I can read!).
Upvote if it's working because the principle of converting Redstonedust into Obsidian is littlte known and therefore in danger of being removed.
Also comment when using the design in your world or have ideas for improvements. thank you.

bye

Could the schematic possibly be edited to include a chest with Diamond Pickaxes in it? I've only found one Diamond in my world so far. :S

Hey, its me again xD

i just want to know, does this work because of the fusion of redstone/lava/water or its like time lapsing, or something else (if you know xD)

and did you find it yourself or on a forum or something like this?

thx for your answers

its just about water+lava+redstone. so the lava can also come flowing from the side. also the redstone needs to be off. i found it by chance playing around (beeing bored...). i posted it on the german wiki, if noone translates it i will try accessing the english page.. we'll see.. i am very sure its not a bug since it doesnt work with powered rails which act very alike to redstone.
you don't need the piston stuff, it's just more comfortable.

Hi again,
i just thought of another way: once you have 10 obsidian, create a portal. take a diamond pickaxe and a chest with you and travel to the nether. now place the chest next to the portal and harvest the whole portal. once you have all (14) obsidian, place all your items in your inventory into the chest. now... commit suicide. in multiplayer write "/kill", in singleplayer digg two blocks down and place lava in it. you will spawn back in the real world. travel back to the nether (the portal will be recreated and the mined obsidian is stored safely in the chest. take it and travel back.
there you go
bye!

thx for the advice but i prefer your obsidian generator because in the nether its dangerous

(my server is on normal and we are not hacking so its hard...) xD

as far as i know it is either redstone or lava. since you always need water it kind of sucks to travel forth and back to the nether getting lava. since i have way too much redstone i decided to work with this and got the idea of a generator.
So no, i don't think so. thanks for the feedback!
