This map is based on the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone.
The actual area of The Zone is 1,004 square miles - This map is only a 42 square mile chunk of that.

The world includes Pripyat an abandoned city next to the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant. Wiki.I'm aiming to create a 1:1 scale model of the city (or as close as possible to scale)

I've managed to write a filter that will go through each chunk and fix all teh broken double tall grass (it's not missing... just invisible) 

I left the macro running lastnight to see how long it would take - about 200,000 chunks in 12 hours. 3375000 chunks minimum before I release (about half the map)

Only about 3,175,000 chunks left to fix. The Math says 180 hours of running the macro and I should be done.

If I keep running it 12 hours a day then It'll be fixed in 15 days. I'll see if I can let it run for a week straight...

Drive replaced.

1.8 release is still delayed. It seems like I loaded my 1.8 map in an earlier version and all the new blocks disappeared. All the double tall grass on the level has completely disappeared. I know for a fact that I never downgraded because I never downgrade. Blame Mojang.

Just double checked with backups that definitely had tall grass. As soon as I load them with 1.8 it all disappears and leaves lighting glitches in every chunk. How do I fix hundreds/thousands of chunks?

I'm currently updating to the new snapshot features ready for a 1.8 release.

Did I skip 1.7? 
So I forgot to do a release for 1.7... I think. Sorry about that but at least I'm making progress so all is good.

Texture changes:
Random textures!! Roads already look 100% better.
Random rotation on some textures
Random detail textures.


Models:
Furnace modelled to look like campfire (1 bug needs to be fixed - Animated fire texture transparency doesn't work on the furnace model. It works on others... maybe minecraft bug?)

bed modelled to look like a tent. maybe not permanent change. I'll still have to replace the beds on the map with something else.

World:
Due to new sponge functionality I had to replace all the sponge blocks (sandbags) and replace them. Sandbags are now the Red Sand block as It wasn't in use on my map.

North Swamps - Zaton and Yanov. Fauna, Details, Buildings.
Pripyat - buildings and details.
Old Yantar basic buildings and layout.
Chernobyl details
dead city details
limansk details (still missing a lot of buildings)

Emission machine at the center of the zone.

Sounds:
some old sounds updated.
new atmospheric sounds.

Experimental:
Chickens are invisible and make ambient bird sounds. 
Animated grass textures.

2 New Resource Packs Uploaded. One is a Texture Pack and the other is a Sound Pack - I've separated them because the sound folder was getting pretty big.

MOVED THE SPAWN POINT (it's now at the centre of the zone. Coordinates 0, 0, 0)

Preparing map for next minecraft version and double tall grass and the other new items.

I wrote a filter to check over the entire world and add grass to all 450,000 chunks
I wrote another filter to check over the entire world for grass and randomly add the new double tall grass.

possible ferns and double ferns - it takes 12 hours to run the macro for each of these so it depends how much time i have.

possible vines - i still need to write that filter (or if anybody knows of one. let me know)

If you can't find something or if you want to get around the map quickly teleport yourself to 0,60,0 (/tp 0,60,0) for a room full of teleporters.

Currently preparing the map for the 1.5 update
  • Underground Surprises!
  • more of Pripyat City and the surrounding area has been completed.
  • Started the Great Swamp.
  • Added tunnel connecting swamp with Cordon.
  • Clear Sky base completed.
  • A few swamp settlements, church, etc. (7 settlements left to build)
  • Yantar is has fun things for you to find!
  • Dark Valley Completed...

Massive block replacement. (Separated Concrete wall block from stone floor block.
Road textures darkened and Marble blocks are now poured concrete.)

Texture pack is currently 64x64 but I'll make a new 16x16 for release. some animated textures already completed.

after the Great Swamp i'm moving to the Call Of Pripyat area to start on those swamps near the city :)

Still preparing for the 1.3 Update -Cleaning up the map and adding details where possible.

  • Changed the Entire map to the Swamp Biome because minecraft is way too colourful.
  • The area around Chernobyl is Desert Biome (I wanted Red Forest but Pine trees don't change colour... (so i'll need to swap the leaves)
  • Planted so many Trees. Thanks to my fiancée for helping plant some forests (It was done by hand because the tools i'd usually use haven't been updated for 1.3 yet.. obviously)
  • Duga-3 south of Chernobyl (moved closer to the power plant so I wouldn't have to try and extend the map)


I'm having issues (chunks not aligning) with the world because my system doesn't have enough memory for World Painter to smooth out some of the imported terrain.

Not sure what time i'll be releasing the next build. within the next 12 hours I imagine...

  • Generated a new world with WorldPainter

- "The Zone of Exclusion" based on a map of the Ukraine
  • Moved the build to the new world
  • Altered height map of the Ukraine to include height maps of locations from S.T.A.L.K.E.R

The new world is approx 1.6GB - If you want it purely for Pripyat or Chernobyl you can load it up in MCedit and delete all the chunks you don't need.

This is a map of the new world (a few days old so recent constructions are missing)

More details completed but most of my time right now is going into learning java so i can write some server mods.

Infrastructure in planning (lamp posts and the such)

basements and underground tunnels in planning - Can't be started until the city is moved to a new non-flatmap world. I've got a 10x10 mile world based on height data of the ukraine but it's a few gigabytes in size. I've scaled it down to the smallest useable size and it's just under 1GB. MCedit is still far too unstable to move the city into a new world yet.

No download updateds - Next download will not be available for a while

Looking for coders to write some simple server mods specifically for this build.

that texture pack in the video isn't out yet - the moving grass is still experimental and it's made to work with the 1.8 so It's not out yet. But soon.

i hope so because it looks epic, great job man.  one recommendation is to make the lettering and stuff on top of the buildings, but otherwise it is one seriously accurate and awsome map.  also im considering making a minecraft movie out of it if that is okay with you.

I really want to do some lettering. You have no idea how much I want that.

Pretty much everything I've seen can't be recreated with the blocks I have to choose from or if I can create it then it never fits.

That said... I'm sure i haven't tried the lettering for a year or two. maybe I can get something working.. maybe even using the new banners in the snapshot.

I noticed that the home series 121-60-25 10-storey on your map, but they have nine floors actually. Did you fix it or not?  And another thing: Your Nuclear Power Station, and in particular the third and fourth unit does not look like the real, you'll alter the NPP?

By the way, in the future, you can put in apartments destroyed furniture, gas stoves, etc. that add atmosphere to leave the city. Also you can put on the streets abandoned cars, trucks, buses. And yet, then rework observation wheel, in reality it was larger in size, about how 10-12-storey house.

home series 121-60-25 all have been fully furnished but I need to rebuild the interiors to match the blueprints. other buildings will have furniture when I get around to it.

Abandoned cars and trucks not coming soon. I don't have time to build them. I'm thinking about finding somebody that can build them and I can copy and paste them into the map. maybe somebody has already made a pack of vehicles that I can use. I'll look around.

I decided to finish zaton swamp first. almost finished the basic buildings. I had to take the terrain back to worldbuilder to make some adjustments. I've been cleaning up the entire world. more changes to the area around chernobyl. the latest snapshot added new blocks which would be useful so I'll have to make some adjustments to the texture pack and swap some blocks in the map

I've done a lot of work on the map but i've stopped for a bit because of buggy snapshots. (I don't want to accidentally break the map). Hopefully there'll be a fixed snapshot out in a day or two and I can continue building.

They are for the map. I'm still adding details and random buildings that I forgot and there are area's that still need work - limansk, old yantar and brain scorcher

I thought artifacts, radiation and emissions would be nice feature for next release. only radiation works in multiplayer right now.

Yes. some people offered to do interiors for me but I haven't heard from them for a bit but I've already started adding them myself. I recently added interiors to 50+ buildings in Pripyat. Apartments and Shops, mostly.

The next update will be shortly after 1.8. Old_FAG requested some new areas so those are holding things up a little bit.

I haven't touched Limansk, Working On Radar (Brain Scorcher) lately.... I really want to finish that area soon. I've been working on Oasis puzzle in swamps. I don't have 1935 so I can't see what's unfinished in Generators (what did I forget?)

I've been working on the texture pack and buildings interiors for Pripyat buildings (added a few buildings too)

Old Yantar looks good. I'll need to install 1935 again and figure out where to put this.. but there's plenty of empty space on the map so i'll find somewhere.

Since I moved house I haven't got a access to my second computer so I can't run Stalker and minecraft at the same time so things are going very slow. I'll try installing stalker on my laptop... maybe that will help speed things up.

did you make the reactor 4 meltdown!i need your perfect replica of chernobyl npp for tekkit light map!Im going to build a functional reactor with that modpack and contaminate the npp with radioactive waste which is included in tekkit light modpack with technik loucnher.Then im going to use the map for my personal tekkit light server when ill play with friends.And the think i wont to say is that this is the bigest think ever created and probably genese record for giantic map.How the fuck you builded it soo huge if you are on creative its going to take you 288-300years to build it!And plese answer my question about reactor 4 meltdown.Diamond for your build bro its amazing.

If you're looking for a perfect replica there was a project where somebody was building the interior of the plant. I can't find the link right now but that looked like a good one.

Things don't take years in creative if you use MCedit.

Playing Battlefield 4 and waiting for DayZ...

I was waiting for mojang to fix the view distance bug and they did that yesterday so I'll be continuing with Reactors 5 and 6 and the cooling towers.

I want to start adding the stalker multiplayer maps to fill up the empty spaces between areas.

are there any areas you want me to focus on?

I added new chunks for the places that were close to the edge of the world and I've started linking up the rivers for Limansk, Old Swamp and Great Swamp.

I've also done work on Jupiter and made some of the interiors. The lift that goes down to the pripyat underground does not work yet but i've used command blocks to make the big doors underground open and close
