Shadow of the Piston [ Adventure Island Map ]

Can you help the villagers of Pistonton? Their village gates are malfunctioning. They open at night and close during the day! This allows all sorts of creeps in! The makers of the gates have long since sealed away their underground facility, it is up to you to find the keys to the facility, complete the tests therein and help fix the village gates!

My last minecraft creation! It's a large island on which the village you spawn in is located. The village will have lots of clue signs so make sure to have a good look around. The rules will be in the spawn house. I've tried to make this adventure map to be intuitively playable, so the rules are very straightforward:

•You can mine ores and anything that grows (no breaking any other blocks)
•The only things you can place are torches and redstone torches, you can also break these.
•No brewing / enchanting / arsen
•Craft anything and kill anything

Another rule is that you can't leave the village during the day (because of the malfunctioning gates, of course!). This means your exploring will be done at night when hostile mobs are spawing all around you! The gates will open automatically when night falls, and close when morning comes (See additional notes as to how this is possible). Outside of the village are ruined paths which lead to points of significance. I won't give too much away here, but the door to the facility won't open until you have found two "keys", finding these is the first challenge, but completing the 23 subterranean tests is the real challenge you face. They are difficult...very difficult...evil even! At the end of these tests is the village gate control room, your objective. Some of the tests you WILL die on, make sure to make good use of the save points, which have a bed and chest. The tests each have observation areas which, like the tests themselves, are all linked so that if (more like when!) you can't complete the tests and still wish to help the village, you can take the observer route to the finish. Also, you can play on peaceful while inside the village and facility without effecting the game. I intended to light these areas so they were monster proof, but it started to ruin the look. It's 99% monster free in the village and facility when tested, and they haven't proved a problem, but a rouge creeper might ruin something important! (As usual.....)

There are secrets on the island and in the village, all with hints. Go find them for yourself, you'll enjoy it more this way! Also, so nobody wastes hours looking, there's no redstone ore (left) in the map, not one block.

Feedback is more valuable than diamonds, I'd like to hear what the Steves out there thought of it. So play, enjoy, and let me know what you think.

The village gates will open and close depending on the light level. Grass growth at a certin light level will cause a block update and this is then transtated to a redstone signal via a bud switch. I tried making a light sensor of my own, but was unable to make one as fast as the one I use in this map, which is the 14x Light Sensor made by last_username, link:
