This is a recreation of the Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past

(Started 19 July 2011)

After completing a quarterof the world, I did some research. Only to find that IT WAS ALREADY DONE twice before!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W2TOPFVcUMg

and

http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/427992-creation-legend-of-zelda-block-to-the-past-wip/ (Downloadable)

http://www.planetminecraft.com/project/legend-of-zelda-a-block-to-the-past/ (Downloadable)

So now I have continued making my version of it. Trees are variant to keep then"natural" Minecraft feel to the world. Buildings and terrain have been extended or stretched, or may not even line up completely, to accommodate the differences between the Minecraft "GRID" versus the art of Zelda. But I still want to keep the main layout and feel of the Hyrule world intact.

I have a very particular building style and I like to pay close attention  ( which can be seen from my previous build (http://www.planetminecraft.com/project/montag-ville/) so I hope that I can give this world justice enough to be considered, at least, a good build. It is definitely an ambitious project so please show your support.

It was released on 1 Sept 2011  whether it was completed or not. I did this so that people could be the first in history to download and play a Minecraft version of Zelda - Link to the Past. Do note that most of it is not completed. Altho most minor caves have been added and houses have been decorated; buildings, dungeons, and other secrets have not yet been developed. You are free to do whatever you want with it, so long as proper credit is given. But I will continue building to make this map live up to Link to the Past one of the most EPIC games of Super NES history! I plan on creating the entire world of Hyrule. I would like to have dungeons work but I would rather out source that job since I wouldn't consider that my expertise.

I have decided to build the dark world in a separate download. It will be done in the nether so the feel of it will hold true to the actual game. I was waiting for a flat Nether map to come out to build it but I had to build it myself...

Here is the Dark World project should you want to see it:

http://www.planetminecraft.com/project/zelda---link-to-the-past-snes-dark-world/

If you load it onto a server, invite me, I would love to come join you.

Thx  :D

Additional Details

P.S.

The height map shows color differences which denotes how high or low a level needs to be to make up for the hills near kakariko village up to the forest.

Please note: I am a "one man" show. EVERYTHING that has been made in this world has been done by my hand alone..

Lastly, remember that your comments and diamonds give me the strength to continue making this project. Please show your support

1.4.1 Command Block!!! : 10/24/2012 8:18:42 am10/24/12

Now that 1.4 has implemented the command block. I can use it to warp people to the places that didn't fit in the map. And I'll be able to use this to make the dungeons! Woot!

The Dark World : 03/18/2012 6:22:17 pm3/18/12

I know I said I was going to make the dark world.. and I am!  And The new Dark World will be in the nether. Its just that I don't think I will include it into this download. What I mean is that I will make a separate project for it and people can merg them together later. The reason I'm doing this is because of the conflict between warps, to and from the over world.
IDK... I'm still wrestling the thought because I know how much work went into making the light world and I want to make the dark world just as awesome!...

Update #13 : 03/11/2012 8:38:48 pm3/11/12

Just updated the map to 1.2.3 anvil - Woot!   Also, if your following this.. I added the drops in the graveyard and the path the past that leads behind the church...

Caves (Minor), New world update, & video : 02/09/2012 9:54:40 pm2/09/12

Many of the minor caves have been completed with the exception of the caves on Death Mountain.

I've also uploaded the newest version of the world so you can see the caves if you wish.

and lastly, I've made, and uploaded a new video for your viewing pleasure

1.9 Update and Dth Mnt : 12/22/2011 1:04:03 pm12/22/11

As of the 1.9 update, all of the biomes changed. Mine, in particular became the Ice Plains and snow covered EVERYTHING!  I have fixed this by copying it to a completely new world in the middle of the Ocean and changing all the water there to dirt. Now That everything is transfered, I had had some more time to complete the Mountain range. The only thing left is the Tower of Hera and Turtle Rock and Death Mountain will be FINISHED!!! Finally!   Then I can start on the fun stuff like making caves and decorating houses. Possibly work on a dungeon (Not likely tho) ROFL

Mountain Range : 12/08/2011 6:51:51 pm12/08/11

Death Mountain is almost finished. I placed Death Mnt in three different locations, relatively close to the original spot to compare each other. In the End, I choose to place Dth Mnt back behind the Wood cutters home. In this way, Zora domain is mostly unaffected, the mountain is still relatively close to the original location, and allows the extra space to be used as filler without being too excessive. The "filler" I choose to be a mountain range with a river that cuts through it. The river spits you out at the beginning of Zora Pass (Where all the water falls are.)
The Mnt Range works in 2 ways:1) It acts as a barrier to the outside world, similar to the game map.2) It is aesthetically pleasing to the eye and the design is to closer to the art of the map.
I'm finally excited about this and I believe that, when finished, Death Mountain will be the second greatest contribution to this map along side of Lost Woods.

Death Mountain : 11/30/2011 5:50:03 pm11/30/11

So Ive been creating Death Mountain but I'm running into the problem of the mountain overlapping the Zora Domain. So I've started creating Death mountain in a separate Flat map and paste it back in the Zelda world. When I do, I will have to back death mountain back so that it doesn't conflict with the Zora domain. The problem is that doing so will create a gap that I must fill. The question is, should I fill the gap with a Forest...or a mountain range?...

Zora Falls, and DEATH MOUNTAIN : 10/31/2011 6:02:15 pm10/31/11

Zora Falls is complete to include the Zora Domain where  KING ZORA lives. Now the time is at hand to finally complete DEATH MOUNTAIN. The foreboding project now sits on my door step ready to be finished.... But I'v been waiting till the last minute to start because of several reasons:

The space for it was contingent of the completion of the surrounding areas and it looks like I might not have enough. Previous attempted maps had the eastern end of Death Mountain OVERLAP Zora Falls which I plan on NOT doing. If there is, indeed, NOT enough room for Death Mountain I will have to move the mountain back, or twist the Zora Domain to the right (Which seems like the most Viable solution.)

In the End, Zora Domain MUST remain UNCOVERED and Death Mountain Must be within the general vicinity over the original map lay out with only MINOR tweeks. Wish Me luck (Cross Your Fingers)

First Release!!! : 08/31/2011 9:46:56 pm8/31/11

Today is the day - It is still incomplete but I wanted to give this to the people before any other Zelda world was released. Enjoy what has been done  :D

Eastern Palace & Lake Hylia : 08/28/2011 9:37:31 pm8/28/11

I've been "Jones-ing" to finish Lake Hylia for some time now. I ment to complete it before getting the Desert Palace done But the Lake seemed to be a little difficult to obtain the correct coordinates for and I was force to complete the Desert Palace and the Eastern Palace before I could see how much space I had to work with.

The Eastern Palace was absolutely one of the funnest projects I've worked on. Although nothing beats building Kakariko Village. I've realized that BUILDing mountains is a lot more time consuming than destroying them.

After completeing the Swamp and the Eastern Palace, I had the correct coordinates and visual space to finally create Lake Hylia. By the time I got to it, it had already been half way created by the surrounding areas! BOY! Am I glad thats out of the way  :D

The Desert Temple & Texture Packs : 08/23/2011 9:45:02 pm8/23/11

Lately I've been so busy I haven't gotten the chance to continue working on the world. I finally finished the Desert Temple! I am also working on a texture pack that will correctly fit the world. Maybe I should see if other texture packs will work....

Swamp & the Desert : 08/20/2011 1:34:17 am8/20/11

I've completed the swamp area and started on the Desert temple area. I keep doing it and re doing it. It seems squished for some reason and I think something got lost in translation. I'll have to extend the length of the swamp field if I want to extend the length of the Desert. I figure its not too late to stretch the map but the thought of it makes me procrastinate. I guess I just need to get in there and just do it and get it over with.

The Lost Woods : 08/13/2011 10:11:31 pm8/13/11

This was, by far, one of the most time consuming projects thus far. Creating a forest under a canopy that not only looks natural and matches the game. It also has to serve the purpose of blocking the player from traveling from one part of the map to the other uninhibited. I think it turned out pretty good. Parts of the canopy created dark spots but I feel I did a good job of light distribution by creating port holes in the canopy to make the forest glow with natural lighting;similar to the game. In the night time the forest glows but the canopy does not. Over all, I'm quite proud it.

Update #2 : 08/11/2011 7:50:31 pm8/11/11

I've completed Kakariko Village, Kakariko Hills, the surrounding hills and vegetation, the lumber jacks area and house. and now I am working on the Lost woods.
The canopy is the first thing I wanted to get down so that when large tress grow beneath, it blends nicely together. The greatest difficulty I have currently is the logs that Link walks threw in the lost woods as I cant properly make them circular and so It looks sorta funny to me. I hope the finished product will be a good one. I was considering making the trees and the forest canopy glow as I did in Montag Ville. What do you think?

Update #1 : 08/04/2011 11:06:13 pm8/04/11

Added cemetary and sancutary behind the castle. Ive also extended the back half of the castle ,in hopes that in the future, it will accomodate the inside dimentions.

I agree to this question. Is this an Adventure map? And if the answer IS yes than i will play it. And again, if the answer IS yes then do you have to play it on peaceful? 'cause creepers do get annoying, and the actual game has monsters to fight, in that case are there mob spawners?

LOL... to be honest, I never tried viewing it with tha ingame map. I have created the world based of the original Zelda Map and my common knowledge of the game ( I have played it ALOT ). As stated in the description, not everything could or would fit perfectly, but I have done my best at retaining the basic parameters and feel of the game in tack.

March 7, 2012, 12:03 pm

yes I do, good sir. The difference is in the quality and style of building. I originally planned to have an entire working system for worlds, caves, and dungeons but the longer I work on this, the more I realize it must be on a server to be played properly. Altho, I have added as much as possible to negate excessive warping to and from places.... I DO want to make THE DARK WORLD but the problem is in the proper placement of nether warps. They tend to do whatever they want, you see. So I am firmly fixed on finishing this map before attempting anything else. I think I will make the DARK WORLD a separate project to be downloaded and people can merge them later... Just a thought.

As of now, the game is not yet playable as ALL the dungeons haven't even been started. But if you haven't played the original game, You are instructed to go to Karariko Village, and then find the elder at the eastern palace. That would be where the first dungeon is.   :D

And I'm DLing it now so I can check. If you do though, you will of made an Ultimate Map!

I think I made a note of that before in the update logs, but the problem is that dungeons are not my area of expertise, and I have had some trouble with the cave systems as well due to space constrictions. (i.e. the Death Mountain Caves are particularly difficult because the back of the mountain ends before the cave system does) Which means that, in order to correctly play the map, It will be required to be played on a server which allows teleporting to and from those caves. Since you would be warping to caves, I mind as well apply the same technique to dungeons as well. I just haven't had a good idea for where to hide those Cave systems and dungeons. Any suggestions?

You can make then go various depths underground and things like that. You can also shorten them. And you can also make this for AdventureCraft, which would give you the ability to make NPCs, Custom blocks (Boomeranf, ICe and Fire rod, the medal things, bombs, the gloves, etc)

I like your idea about putting dungeons and cave systems deep under ground. The admin of the server, they load it on, will have to link all the way points correctly.

I think that if I make this an Adventurecraft map tho, I will make it a separate map. So that other players wont be required to mod their game if they simply want to play for nostalgic reasons.

Or I could make another game world, like...idk actually, I would very much apprieciate it if someone would give me a call on my channel and tell me what game they would want, right now I am building EARTHBOUND! Or to Japaneese people, Mother 2. now all i need to do is get the Zsnes emulator from Emulator-zone and the ROM file from coolrom then i will start the person off in a bed in his room, in fact i will even make a Ness skin.
