Zedwork is a secure, vanilla-esque Minecraft Server with an emphasis on collaboration and community. We were tired of all the grief filled servers out there and wanted to make something different; something completely grief free!

Zero Grief

There's no grief. Not only do we prevent grief before it can happen with claim protection, but we will typically catch, and ban, those up to no good extremely fast.

We encourage community spirit, and don't take kindly on griefing, stealing or PVPing in an non-civil manner. PVP is allowed, but have some respect about it. Surprise attacks on players who are building, or going about their business is not accepted practise here. The Guardians will step in if they see your behaviour as unsavoury.

Plenty of resources

Players always start in a resource rich environment alongside other players just starting out. No more walking hundreds of blocks out of spawn before you can build. No more searching for caves, only to discover they've already been stripped of all valuables. With Zedwork, you're dropped right in with other players who want the same as you: to find a nice spot to build; and you're never far from trees and other natural resources to mine.

Vanilla

We are vanilla. This does not mean no plugins, completely unprotected. What we mean is there is a focus on the core Minecraft experience. There are no game-changing plugins; nothing to distract from simply playing Minecraft.

We've just opened a new region called "Zhuruguo", all new players shall spawn here.

We've just updated to 1.3.1, and all plugins appear to be stable. Looking forward to seeing all the new creations everyone comes up with using the new features of Minecraft ^_^

A new region will soon open! : 05/26/2012 6:59:10 pm5/26/12

The current region is nearly full up, so a new region shall soon be open for new players to join in. If you're more interested in starting in a well developed area, then join now!

Of course, any player can move into the new region once it opens. Visit the currently open region by entering /newestregion in-game, and you can move into the region by entering /movein (this making it your /homeregion, where you would spawn after death)

MEmory leak has been fixed! : 05/24/2012 4:56:22 pm5/24/12

If you regularly visit Zedwork, you may know that we have been suffering a significant memory leak over the past few days. Generally, this just meant the server had to be restarted once or twice a day. Though sometimes, if not caught before the memory leak outgrew the capacity of the server, Zedwork would be offline until found. Thankfully, this was usually timed uite well, and wasn't offline for too long. After extensive checking, the issue has now been fixed and the problematic code removed. Enjoy Zedwork again, worry free ^_^

Hilltop has been progressing well, they are now setting up their own market!

Visitors and residents alike will be able to buy from the shops, though I believe shop plots are only available for rent by residents of the town.

You can get to Hilltop by entering /visitregion hilltop in-game

Don't forget, you can visit the market in the CityRegion by typing /CityRegion in the in-game chat! You can buy all sorts of things from the shops there, most of which are player-run.

There is currently a free shop plot, so if you're interested in starting up your own shop and would like to take the plot please speak to zedwick :)

It's coming along pretty nicely, and has secured itself as the largest build on the server. I'm excited to see it come to completion, course that's a long way off. Because of it's sheer immense size, Chester needs some donations to see it through. If anyone would like to donate, please let him know :)

A note about Vanilla : 05/15/2012 8:28:28 am5/15/12

We promote ourselves as 'Vanilla', though we are a bukkit server. We may not be purely Vanilla, but no public server should be Vanilla. Vanilla is okay amongst friends, but Minecraft just isn't designed for security. Any players can destroy, grief and ruin a vanilla world. We get players who join us and speak out against it not being 'Vanilla', and then go on to look for ways they can grief the server. Essentially,t hat seems to be what most people looking for a Vanilla server want; an easy way for them to cause grief against others, an unprotected server.

Zedwork is a vanilla experience, with protection plugins to maintain an enjoyable experience for all. We do not have any game-changing pugins, the core experience is the same. But you have the tools available to protect yourself against grief.

So do not complain that we are not Vanilla, we are. We're as much a vanilla server as any public server ever should be, you would NOT want a truly vanilla server. You just want that Vanilla experience.

Unless you're a griefer, of course; we'd rather not see yo on Zedwork if so. ;)

New town: \'Hilltop\' : 05/10/2012 9:07:39 pm5/10/12

A new player town is now forming named 'hilltop'. Still early on in their plans, but will hopefully be opening its gates to residents very soon :)

Rail System Proposal : 05/09/2012 2:17:32 pm5/09/12

We've start work on the rail system for Zedwork. As it stands, the proposal is to have 4 lines leaving the City Region. Each Line represents a different direction; Morningthaw, cavern, stream and waterfall. They will pass through several regins, until they loop back and end back in the City Region. So one example is the Morninghtaw line, which will head up to Morningthaw, go through darktide and eventually arrive in Guild, loop accross to Waterfront and loop back to the CityRegion via waterfall. Waterfall would make the opposite journey; starting in waterfall, then to waterfront, guild, darktide, morninghtaw and back to the CityRegion.

I believe work on the guild-waterfront section of rail will begin soon, and later be incorporated into the larger network.

A new region has just opened; named 'Boulder'

The spawn area for this region has been designed by resident Guardian FellAngel!

On Zedwork, players always spawn in a resource-rich environment, and never have far to walk before they can get started with building. As the spawn region fills up with builds, the region closes to new players and a new region opens; ready for new players to be assigned to it. This should make it easy for players to simply play minecraft, and not have to worry about finding a spot to build, not having enough trees or not be able to find enough coal, or iron close to spawn!
