Hogwarts RP Experience staff does not take a role in any House. This allows for the iKingsSGC Staff to stay neutral regarding house related issues. It is clear that other hogwarts servers have their staff controlling houses. However this never works out, the staff becomes defensive of their house and cannot remain impartial to make the decisions that are best for the entire server community rather than the houses they are in. So as such, our tried and proven method of 2 years and counting is for our staff to not be involved in the nitty gritty activities of individual houses but rather the entire server making sure things run smoothly and that all of our members needs are satisfied.

Installing Spoutcraft!

Spout-craft is a plugin but with a twist, to actually USE spout-craft in-game, you need to launch Minecraft via the client side launcher. This gives users that use the launcher exclusive access to the spout-craft plugins installed on the server.


Being a spout enabled server does not mean that people who connect via the normal Minecraft launcher will be unable to connect. You will still be able to connect, just not be able to access the spout exclusive plugins.

IP address issue Fixed - tiny plugin dev update : 12/07/2012 6:05:55 pm12/07/12

I believe I have fixed the issue. For some reason the DNS Zone record was sending the domain propagation to two different IP addresses, yourcraft and the Hogwarts test server.

I believe I have fixed this issue now.

Hey everyone, well I figured that I should make this small post to go along with the alerts Ive been passing along every time we finish a plugin and start a new one.


This post wont be very indepth due to obvious reasons. For those who dont know what those reasons are I will explain.


I cant disclose exactly what we are working on because there are a few servers out there that aspire to beat us and in the process they have stolen our ideas & intellectual property. They send their members to these forums to steal our posts, our images and our plugin concepts. Hell one of them even used a world downloader mod when Hogwarts RP Experience was originally online.


For this reason I have hidden the ENTIRE Hogwarts RP Experience section from non-staff forum accounts until we are nearly ready to launch.


Now the reason I am making this post is to let you guys know in limited detail what we are working on plugin wise. We are creating a entire suite of plugins to give the server a total Harry Potterverse feel and let me tell you, the second you walk into this server you will feel like your a character in the Hogwarts Universe.


In addition to all these plugins TheiKing (yes I am talking about myself in the third person) has been hard at work vamping up EVERYTHING and making everything so enjoyable you will have a hard time not being entertained 24/7. Those cheap knockoff servers out there throw you into the map, say you can attend pointless classes to "learn spells" and leave you roaming around to eventually get bored. Well with Hogwarts RP Experience there will never be a time where you are bored. Adventure waits around every corner, hidden room and adventure. Not to mention our unique way of providing a way for you to experience learning about the Wizarding World in a way no other server ever could.


Now the plugins below are just some of the plugins I feel I can reveal to you all at the moment. Even just making this post is sort of a risk because no doubt will those knock off servers pay some developer from the bukkit/spout forums to try and make them :D

Hogwarts RP Experience News : 04/12/2012 2:57:49 pm4/12/12

Hey there Witches and Wizards (corny intro you say? whatever :D ), I would just like to inform you that when Hogwarts is all updated and its RP systems are setup that the server will become, non-whitelisted. This means commoners will be able to join the server.

Lets face it, Im not a hardcore dedicated Roleplay supported. Forcing people to create life stories and forcing them to talk like this "My name is Duke Harolding, Im a blacksmith from the land of galdor" with perfect grammar and that nonsense has never been my style.

As long as you have spoutcraft installed and the right build you will be able to join. Its a simple as that.

However people that complain about what House they are automatically sorted in apon login by the iSorting Hat excessivly will be put onto a greylist until they calm down. you have a 25% chance of getting the house you want, we strive for authenticity and the "no choice in your house selection" is as authentic as it gets.

On a side note I would also like to let you guys know that development on updating/remaking our custom plugins is taking so long because of Mojang and their newfound practice of updating every week or two. The Mod Divison had to refocus on the Doctor Who Client Mod and the Stargate Chevron 7 Client mod.

ON another side note. I have begun the process of skinning the 498 existing NPC students, shop keepers, and other npcs. Its a long tedius process and makes me want to shoot my self in my broken ankle....but Its getting done.

Oh god yet another.......side note........ There was recently a breach of security that allowed a really bad person into the server. His name is A_Falling_Panda, he used to be staff until he got addicted to crystal meth and destroyed the entire map back in the day. He has hacked clients and as such....he was able to destroy the floating candles in the great hall and he griefed a portion of the spawn area....before he got bored and left I guess. However, because I am prepared for nearly every situation all of his "damage" was reversed and everything is hunky dory once again.

AS far as plugins go, I have begun implimenting some really really cool new experimental plugins that SHOULD make the magical experience better. AS for a magic plugin, things on that aspect are kind of....annoying me. So before the 1.2.4 update we were in the process of remaking our Hogwarts RP Experience Spell plugin, well now that is going to take a little longer than we expected because the lead devs of Bukkit (the people who made 1.2.4 and 1.2.5) is now working on minecraft itself and they mucked some things up that is hindering the plugin to be remade. Dont worry it will be made eventually some times soon (hopefully :D)

I would just like to ask you all if you all would be ok with a RP launch without classes and spells for the time being and enjoy things like shopping in diagon, or having fun in the Wizard Duel Complex and exploring hogwarts itself.

If you all would like a launch without classes and spells for a while what activities would you like to see us implement. What would you guys like to do in the sever. The main reason I am delaying the RP launch and whitelist removal is due to the fact that I feel that without them you guys wouldn't be entertained enough and things would get stale for you.

So let me know what you guys think in a reply to this thread and lets hope for a RP launch very soon :)

Why Would you like to join Hogwarts RP Experience: I personally LOVe Harry Potter and Minecraft. I have been searching around for a long long time for a good Harry Potter server, and I finally found thins one, which seems to be the only good one there is, other than one other, but it won't use Spout, so it barely has anything you can do on it, so i would love a ton to get on here and play. Aswell, I don't hack, or grief, or cheat, any of that crap.

Time You Can Dedicate to the server: Alot. I might play on the other server a bit, but most of the time I'll probably play on here. I'm usually on Minecraft every day as well.

Right,....you do realize this is a server right?
You no get download to server files Lenny.

As for 1.4, there is no recommended build of SpoutCraft for 1.4.x and any version of 1.3 is unstable to update plugins to. So since 1.2.5 is still playable in the spoutcraft client that is the version we are staying on until a RB comes out for 1.4 or 1.5

Well, things a bit chaotic for me right at the moment.

1) Moving to a new house, my setup still is not transferred over to the new house yet so no computer setup = sorta impossible to work
2) There is no fios out here so I am going from a 75 mbps download & 75 mbps upload connection to a 10 mbps down and 5 up
3) Verizon has totally screwed everything up about my internet I am getting 0.2 Mbps down and .059 upload. The speeds I am getting are slower than how the internet was in its infancy. AS you can imagine this makes things difficult

4) The iKingsSGC Mod Division plugin developers Solid State Drive failed and we lost the source codes to all of the plugins in our Custom Plugin Suite. Its not anything permanent but it will take a while to decompile the plugins from backups and form new source codes so that is also a delay.

And lastly 5) My grandmother died last week so its a bit tough for me to consider this my top priority.
