I decided to make Harry Potter as an adult. Harry Potter has always been very important to me since childhood, and 2016 is the year the franchise has made a comeback, with a stage play and a movie. Sure, the play wasn't very good, but the movie looks amazing. Even if the movie isn't good, it's still insanely cool how the franchise has come back. How excited people have been over the new material just shows that even though we haven't had a new movie or proper book in years, there are still fans of Harry Potter all over the world. It's such a uniting series with fans coming from all over. Even in years with zero new wizard related content, Harry Potter will always be incredibly important and meaningful to me.
If Harry Potter was a real person, he would be about 36 today. After Hogwarts, he became and Auror. So that's the route I decided to take for this contest. I decided to make a skin based on one of my favorite parts of 2016; the comeback of the Harry Potter franchise. I couldn't make a Newt Scamander skin (from the upcoming movie), because I had already made one for him (and his wife, too). Then I thought of the idea to make Harry Potter as he would be today (if he was real). So this is my adult Auror Harry Potter skin.
I usually make skins based off of pre-existing character designs, because I've never been good at just making things up as far as character design is concerned. There are other Aurors shown in the Harry Potter world, such as Tonks and Mad-Eye Moody and Kingsley Shacklebolt. But they just sort of wore cool looking robes, Aurors didn't really seem to have a uniform. I decided to make Harry's Auror robes a dark purple because purple just seems like a very wizardly color to me. The design went through various stages, from looking like he was wearing a woman's cardigan to him looking vaguely homeless. But eventually the clothes started to look more professional and wizardly and magic police officer-y. I think adding the tie helped a lot; made him look a bit more distinguished. The fingerless gloves (yes, that's what those weird looking hand coverings are) were probably something I should've left out because I have no idea where Minecraft figure's fingers are (or if they even have fingers). I also added elbow patches because I feel they make him look more British. I made his glasses a bit different, because the round ones made him look younger. The last thing I added was the most iconic part of Harry Potter, his lightning bolt scar.
All was well.
