The second iteration of the Cyborg-like species from the TV series, Film series, and slightly non-cannon Book series Dr. Who.
The Cyberman were first encountered on a world similar to Earth, who assimilated 100% of the planet's population, and would have assimilated Earth as well if not for The Doctor.
This version was first encountered in a Parallel Universe version of Earth, invented by a Madman who sought a way to remove anger, fear, and hate as well as mortality from the human form. After turning thousands of humans into Cybermen and Cyberwomen, the Doctor along with a resistance group known as the Preachers, defeated them by sending a hacked signal throughout earth and destroying enough Cybermen for the Preachers to kill the rest.
The headphone-like appendages are not headphones. I have no idea what purpose they serve, please don't ask me :/
