There is still one thing that i never got in the anime how did his eye get the balck and red color and hy does he have that weird gasmask thing that shows his mouth what even is that the only thing and yes i know that he doesnt have his weird thing on his mouth

his one eye is red because on episode 1 he had a fight with a ghoul, after the fight, he had to go to the hospital and the doctors had to replace him with a few ghoul parts, so hes half human half ghoul...

and the mask, im not sure but he asked another ghoul to make him a mask so people will think hes just a ghoul and not half human half ghoul, why i say that is because his mask hides his human eye and it shows his ghoul eye...

The eye 'kakugan' is influenced by RC cells, the same cells that form the Kagune, as for the mask, it was requested that Uta made one for him due to the increase of doves in the 20th ward.
