After the first bomb struck, John knew that he had to do something.
It was an early January day, that the war had finally errupted. The russian - along with the american government had not agreed over the new terms of peace, and as a followup, Nuclear devestation was released across both countries.
John was a first sergeant in the United States Army, whom recently had been issued as a tester for the newly constructed Nuclear Protection Winter Suit. It was one out of a small bunch of prototypes that only a select few high ranked men where asigned to test in Russia, while the americans launched their nuclear attacks. John accepted this, since he had no family and was willing to do anything for his own country, hence he had been departed to russia not long after. His unit had located themselves outside of the risk zones and where all equiped with the Nuclear Protection Winter Suits. They where meant to walk into town after the bombs struck, and eliminate every single survivor. But John suddenly felt a large amount of guilt. He felt guilt, because he had realized that this was not the right thing to do. No one should ever deserve to die in the horrible ways of nuclear destruction.
John disobeyed his mission, turning around to walk away from the town instead of into it, which of course, he was not allowed to do. His comrades turned on him, launching waves of bullets in his direction. Fortunately for John, he was a very good shot, and they where not. He ended up crippling and hurting those who turned on him, not killing anyone, but making them unable to induce any harm. After that, John walked away, wrapping his arm in a cloth after sustaining a bullet wound to it, and started progressing further into the siberian tundra.
At one point, John found a family and people shelter, isolated from any other lifeforms out in the wasteland. John approached the shelter and joined their community. After a while however, the shelter opened up and the people evaded it. John teamed up with a guy named Frost, as they once again ventured out into the frozen landscape. John had gone insane though. He had been trough it all, killing, shooting and hunting. The insanity made him realize that he couldn't trust Frost. As Johns discomfort of Frost grew, his insanity grew even more as well. It led to the point where he even attempted to kill Frost in his sleep, but ended up failing miserably and putting his own life on the line instead. Fortunately for John however, Frost was a kind man and only disarmed John. After this incident, they both split up and went their separate ways. Now, John has regained his sanity as is trying to locate Frost so that he can be forgiven.
