Thanks for saying that. :) When I see how good the winners are, though, it's hard for me too feel bad that I didn't win.

A couple of reasons. First, I feel it fits the style I usually aim for. It looks a little less cartoony than leaving them white. I guess because in cartoons the whites of the eyes are so prominent, but with people in real life the whites tend to not be noticeable unless you're very close to the person.

It also allows me to give the eyes more variations in color without the eyes looking unnaturally dark or light (for example, I might give one person medium blue irises and another light blue irises, but will still have fairly dark pupils so that they don't look too creepy).

I also like that I can use more than one version of the eye color. In this case her irises are tinted a bit more teal compared to her pupils. That adds a subtle depth to the color that I like, and in some cases can help tie the colors of the outfit together.

Well, I didn't make the top three, but I did make the top 41. XD I honestly didn't expect that, given my utter lack of a backstory or theme (outside of "Steampunk Lady" which of course couldn't count for much in the way of originality).
