AEON 1.7.10 beta

next generation is in development

Due to a high volume of downloads on the extension pack (made by EzerArch), two things have become clear; the community is still alive and well, after 5 years since minecrafts release, and that a significant proportion of this community still requires a futuristic texture pack.

currently, i will be looking for a development team. please look below for details.

TEXTURE PACK TO-DOs AND OPTIONS

- CANYONS - NATURAL OR FUTURISTIC? LEAVE A COMMENT BELOW. SHOULD WE MAKE A CREATIVE AND A SURVIVAL VERSION?

- NEW BIOMES, NEW PLANTS,

MOBS. i might need a new team member for this :P

BECOMING A TEAM MEMBER

The grand plan was always to expand AEON into it's own seperate minecraft universe. The dream is to eventually have a website, dedicated server, and perhaps a mod which will work in multiplayer (like tekkit). to make all this possible, a team must be assembled!

Here are the people we are looking for:

Texture artists
We are open for a few experienced  texture artists to help out with the texture pack in general. We currently are in great need of Mobs and armour textures! Must have a good working understanding of pixel art.

We also need programmers, web developers and server staff - however, this will not be immediate as the texture pack is still under development.

If you are interested, please message me on skype - alexwhite6060. There might also be pay involved. ;)

the ores

GFwvMLOpng
As you can see, the ores and stone blocks now match, and are much more subtle than my previous attempts at ores.
I took inspiration from packs like Ovo's and Summerfields. This will also improve the survival experience, which is still in working progress!

the wood
gUtpHrWpng
completely as you'd expect wood to be, simple panels and not too much flashy stuff.

the quartz set

PMrXcpng
Unlike Aeon :: Legacy, I have decided it's best to stay with the classic white colour of quartz. These blocks would be great for labs, hospitals, utopian complexes, and spaceships!

the glowstone and redstone block
rmxXGaLpng
I'm going to make the glowstone casing match the redstone block, mainly because redstone block should match the redstone lamp, which should match glowstone. But this is the generally the style of Aeon 1.6.2, which has come a long way from Year 3000 (my first pack).
Progress: 60% Complete

As to the canyons: I'm having a problem with the stained clay blocks when I'm building a house, factory or wharehouse because the walls I get become too detailed, I would prefer that the natural stained clay blocks were cleaner (specially the white one).

Those stained clay blocks that don't spawn naturally in canyons could get more detailed and futuristic textures.

Also, it's hard to distinguish the white stained clay blocks from the quartz ones because both types of blocks use the same visuals.

---

And a new release Aeon Extension Patch is out: http://www.planetminecraft.com/texture_pack/aeon-extention-patch/

---

"- new glowstone lamp!"

Are you sure you have changed the right glowstone block? The glowstone lamp block still uses the old texture from the previous release and still misses the off state.

----

For info, these are the "natural" stained clay blocks, from the bottom up:
  • Brown
  • Hardened clay (no dye)
  • Orange
  • White
  • Light gray
  • Red

Cool! I tought it was dead! I have been using the extension since some months, and I can say that this RP looks amazing for spaceships! I,m currently building a Pillar of Autumn replica, and it looks so much accurate, thanks to your pack and textures! Thank you very much for creating this, and it would gladly welcome a new version! And for your question, I think that a Creative version is a must. I just hope that you won't change too much existing textures, so it don't screw up the my project, if I update to 1.7.10...  ;) (I still in 1.6.2)

So again, it's wonderful to see you relive this pack!

Yes, it's crashing with MCPatcher and/or Forge. I can confirm it. I'll investigate what is the culprit and post a fix here or on my patch page: http://www.planetminecraft.com/texture_pack/aeon-extention-patch/

That exactly what he wanted, and that is very useful for designing spaceships or futuristic things. That is why the paintings are all about computer screens... You can place them on top of the PC blocks, and it looks awesome!

Right off the bat, I pretty much like the wood planks, leaf blocks and new flowers, my objection is that Lilacs were replaced with Christmas Tress. O well, I have places decorated with Lilacs... you know what I mean.

The GUI is a bit too bight, the average color of your pack is between medium gray, brown and royal blue (I'd name it humid temperate), with low saturation and low brightnesss. You could follow the inventory or furnace color palette, maybe a little lighter for better visibility.

I'll update my patches to reflect the changes. Welcome back!

- leafs, logs and greenery will be editted soon.
- the gui is perfect for the new colour scheme i'm going with. giving the pack a whole new facelift! it;s a bright ultra future pack.... always was lol i kinda lost track-- think my old overly bright display had something to do with it haha...

I'm done finishing a patch that adds about 100 graphics to Aeon 1.6.2 and adds partial support for Galacticraft and Bibliocraft. It includes UI, rails, pumpking blur.

There will be also two bonus versions: Mars sky and Venus sky.

After final tests and hosting, it will be released in the next weekend here: http://www.planetminecraft.com/texture_pack/aeon-extention-patch/

It does work with 1.6.4 as you can see in my video. (if you notice some graphics are different,
I use a modified version of Aeon 1.6.2)

No need to port to 1.6.4, but it will need to be for 1.7x. His pack is just unfinished.

You can download MCPatcher. There's a menu "Convert texture pack". First convert from 1.4 to 1.5, then 1.5 to 1.6, then move the converted texture pack to resources folder.

Obviously, it's not a perfect solution, probably you'll notice that some textures are missing.

you see the curvy lines on the floor (metal planks or something like that) and notice how the lines are not straight as you go further.. you have aliasing going on, and i have not figured how to anti-aliasing so we can make professional pictures, i've had someone tell me that my glass was grainy and i have bad aliasing when i go further and notice how my animated matrix block gets funky.

I tried out the new texture. While some elements are amazingly done, others were kind of WTF.

What happened with the paintings? It seems you accidentally saved them as high-compressed JPG with those infamous artifacts. (I'm not mad, just wondering).

The crafting table has some missing parts. Now I use it as my X-ray device. XD ... mind if I give you an idea? I found a TP whose crafting table was animated with LEDs on its top. I could send you the TP to give a look in it.

how about this:

- the paintings looked terrible, so I tried to dither them. Nevermind now, because I will be remaking the whole thing.

- the crafting table is not missing parts, you just clearly do not have proper mcpatcher! Make sure you have all mc patcher components enabled, because I assure the crafting table is actually transparent...

"the paintings looked terrible"...How dare you say such a thing! Those paintings bring life to my sci-fi buildings. You must have lost your mind. I challenge you to a duel sir!

...just kidding...

Interesting those paintings made me jawdrop when I saw them for the first time and gave all the atmosphere I was looking for, with their bright vivid neon colors... For example I would never hang them on a smooth stone wall but on a metallic or glass wall.

I also noticed you are moving toward a rather beige-ish or gray-ish palette with noise and little rust than a clean and vivid color palette (example), I'm not saying this is bad. (note: I haven't tested every block yet... :x )

Well, you're the artist, you have experience. I believe I can trust you :-) ... I don't want to influence your decisions, just wanted to voice my perceptions (and I find a pack that fits in my sci-fi buildings...hehe).

As to MCP: I tried to use MCPatcher. The problem is that it doesn't go along very well with some tech mods I use, for instance Modular PowerSuits.

You should try to get mcp, it really shows aeon in it's true colors. I'm moving towards a much cleaner and well integrated Aeon,
because I feel as though we need a sci fi pack that blends in well with some of the vanilla aspects!

But the paintings are going to go,
in their place will be some minimalistic art.
I'm moving towards a gradual utopian based theme, where there is a more subtle use of colors and textures

FREAK! If the preview is this amazing, imagine the actual content.

I love the ore blocks. I got the idea: natural blocks (stones, soil, ores, logs) would look natural, the building blocks would go hi-tech.

Let's see how the stained clay will turn out. Depending on the result, I would replace the quartz blocks I used in my galacticraft space station with any other block.

I updated to the 1.5 legacy texture pack, but the pumpkin jud is entierly different and no way near as good as this one. Is there any way to get it?
