The intention is to add a creepy atmosphere to the game by messing with the music and the mobs.

The overworld and creative themes has been muted to add a more unnerving feeling.

[Okay, I REALLY liked the Nether theme, oddly. I didn't find it creepy, it sounded like Legend of Zelda, but the Main Menu, oh, man, that was..Pretty creepy.]
