Smooth Vanilla is the default texture pack, with one subtle change: the low-frequency detail in many of the common textures has been reduced, and the dynamic range has been adjusted to compensate. This reduces the distracting tiling effect noticeable when viewing landscapes from a distance.

There are a lot of people, including myself who really could appreciate an update.

I love the texture pack, but too much purple makes me nauseating. :)

Removed submission. Reason: Unoriginal
The minecraft textures are Mojang's copyrighted work. Placing a filter on them is not your own work.

Would be great if you updated this pack.

If you're discontinuing it though, could I continue it then? I've updated the pack to Minecraft 1.0.0, s well as a few minor changes. I would give you credit, seeing as you started this pack. :)

Awesome texture pack! It's certainly simple, but I use it far more than anything else.
I actually decided to make a quick edit to make glass tile seamlessly like everything else:
I'm sure it won't be to everyone's tastes, but I figured someone else might want it: smoothvanilla_fixedglass.zip

Great Texture pack - its my favorite

BTW you are using wrong -old- mossy cobble texture - in 1.8 it was changed  - you must have not noticed

I'm using the textures from the 1.8 preview texture that Jeb posted a couple of days ago, which still has the 1.7 mossy cobble. If the final release is different from Jeb's preview I'll update the pack to match.

I just downloaded a copy from the server and double-checked it -- it looks fine, but I’ve had occasional corrupted downloads from here in the past. Try downloading it again, and check the file size -- the complete zip file should be 170,469 bytes.

I dont know about these other guys but i see a world of difference. I think the subtle change makes it look a lot more realistic and less tiled.

This should be called 'worthless one-pixel-difference Craft'

Some players are distracted by low-frequency features; some people prefer them. If you can't see them to begin with, then there's certainly no reason to use this pack.

Actually, I meant it more as a demonstration for other texture pack makers who might be interested in using a similar technique on their own packs. There are other packs where the low-frequency detail is a lot more pronounced, but it seemed less presumptuous to use the default pack as an example.

Truly a masterpiece.  Such a subtle difference, yet it creates such a great effect.
