**ANNOUNCEMENT** THIS PACK IS NOW COMPATIBLE WITH THE AETHER MOD!  Not all Aether content has been re-done, as some of it really doesn't need to be, but alot of changes have been made.  This pack will still work even if you don't have Aether installed, no worries.

**ANNOUNCEMENT** This texture pack is also the winner of the Herocraft x16 Texture Pack contest!

This is my Final Fantasy texture pack based off of two games released on the SNES (Super Nintendo) Final Fantasy II (actually it's IV in the series, but came out as II on the SNES) and Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest.

Most of the textures are from IV, with a few good ones taken from MQ.

It is tailored somewhat to the Herocraft SMP server, in that the Diamond Shovel is the Dragoon Lance weapon (the Heroes RPG plugin we've developed on Herocraft makes the Diamond Shovel the main weapon for the Dragoon class)  This should not effect you at all except that if you use a Diamond shovel, you are digging with a Dragoon Lance, that's all.


Things to look for::

-Zombies are undead Dragoons.

-The Nether textures are all directly taken from the Underworld in FF IV.

-Dead Shrubs in desert biomes are skulls.

-Armors are colored Dragoon armor from FF IV. This includes the Aether armors too!

-Look for yourselves! :P


I may be changing a couple things later on, which is why I marked this as 95% done, but this is a completely done Version 1 now, so it is no longer a WIP.

For those who keep asking, I KNOW THERE ARE NEW MOBS COMING IN 1.8!!!  I'll retex them when it releases, the only things that @Jeb_ released was the terrain.png and items.png, we'll have to wait for the rest with the patch.

This is just 1.8 READY now so you can use it right away with no terrain or item textures missing.

chocobos, and sort of, if you play an older minecraft version with the Aether mod installed, the Moa's are basically chocobos.


Once Aether updates again (they'll update when the official modding API is out) then I'll reskin the Moa into chocobos

If you read things, you'll see that it simply includes retexture support for the Aether, not the mod itself, as I do not own that.


It's for those of us who keep an older copy of minecraft around just to play the Aether.

I do nothing with the Aether mod, I just put custom textures in the right places to retexture the Aether if you happen to use it.

Aether mod is only available for Beta 1.7.3 or Full Release 1.0.


They have not updated and do not intend to update until the official modding API is out, it's a massive project and I can't blame them.

it's from the Aether mod, one of the best Mods out there for minecraft, adds a new dimension, new mobs, new weapons/armors/tools/items, etc etc.


The Aether Mod is only out for Beta 1.7.3 and Full Release 1.0 at the moment though, but once the official modding API is out we'll see another updated version soon enough.


I just added texture pack support for them.

It includes original textures that override the Aether textures, not any actual Aether files.  All of my texpaks have custom Aether textures, it doesn't matter that Aether isn't updated past the 1.0.0 Full Release, they will still work for both Aethers (Beta 1.7.3 and MC 1.0.0)


You don't have to have Aether installed to use my texpaks, but if you're playing an older client so you can play Aether (like I do) then you can also use my texpaks for a new look for the Aether, that's all.  Think of it as backwards-compatibility.  I do my best to make my texpaks work for the most current MC version, as well as all previous versions.

Glad you like it :)   Most of the textures are from IV and Mystic Quest, with a couple modified from my Zelda texpak (the ores, FF had no textures good for ores)

 

I'm still a Dragoon fanboy :P

It's always wierd moving to texture packs at first, because suddenly everything is different, but once you get used to them, they're great.  And usually, all the important stuff is the same general color, coal is almost always grey/black, gold is gold, iron is tan-ish, diamond is blue, wood is wood, etc.

They released 4 png's from 1.8 for Texpak makers to get their packs ready for the patch, so I'm as ready as I can get them until 1.8 hits, got all 3 of my texpaks updated and ready.

Jeb (one of the minecraft devs) released the .png files for the new terrain and items so that texpak makers could get ready in advance.


This will still work with 1.7, it's just READY for 1.8

in custom texture packs, if something is left out, the game's default texture is used.  So if there are new mobs (yay!) then until I add a modified version in my texpak, the default mob skins will still be there.  So this pack is as 1.8 ready as any texpak can be right now until it's actually out.

ok, download works fine now, and the texpak now includes changed textures for the Aether mod!  Not all the Aether content is changes, mostly just the block textures, but armor and mobs will be worked on soon!
