In the blink of an eye time had passed into the year 2025 and the soldiers-for-hire known as "The Blasts" had gained the idolization of the entire world in just one short year of their existence. This private force was founded by a man named Matthew Balkalas, a man who possessed a tremendous amount of guilt from a darker than black past and sought redemption the only way he had ever known: down a pair of iron sights for the highest bidder. The Blasts or "The Blastos" as they were affectionately nicknamed, were composed of a large group of unnamed intelligence operators and a very small group of field operators.

The Field Operators (In order of joining)

Matthew Balkalas - Appointed Leader, Infantry
Tucker Gelloq - Pilot, Field Doctor
Lord Ruelas - Infantry
Derringer Westphal - Infantry
Akun Harris - Infantry

Three years following their assimilation, The Blasts had grown to over 80,000 members who became renowned for their incredible combat prowess, and refreshing sense of morality on the battlefield. It is for this reason that the Zion incident came as such as surprise.

Late into the careers of The Blasts, they had occupied a previously anarchistic stretch of wilderness in the American West formerly known as Zion National Park. In an out of character move by Matthew, all freely residing residents of this region were forced into small camp-like communities in the canyon passes of Zion. Meanwhile, The Blasts reorganized themselves in their newfound seclusion as they attempted to peacefully put down civil unrest amongst the people of Zion while also dealing with a minor private army known as "Lupin Co." who regularly attacked the narrow canyon passes in which both The Blasts and several thousand civilians resided.

A particularly violent protest on the first of May, 2031 would shake the world of private armies that had been so long established. Demands in this protest initially called for the expansion of residential camps, but they soon grew to a mob of thousands threatening death to The Blasts should their land not be rightfully given back. The five men chose to ignore this protest, believing it to be harmless. Instead, they focused their attention to the final push of Lupin Co. through the narrow overpasses overlapping the many residential camps. Over 17 armed marskmen belonging to The Blasts, including Lord Ruelas and Derringer, had their sights aligned to a pitch black exit of the canyon camps. Upon seeing lights emerge from the exit, Matthew ordered them to fire until their ammunition ran dry.

Lupin Co. never emerged from the exit; over 1,500 civilians did however, as they attempted to escape a minor brush fire started during the riot. There were no survivors.

None of the five original members said a word to their former idol, Matthew, as one by one they all signed for the disbandment of their company.

If one good thing was left behind by The Blasts, it was the formation of the GPFA (The Global Private Force Authority) in 2031, an organization funded worldwide by multiple governments to ensure that there would never be another incident such as the one instigated by The Blasts. It would be the first nationally recognized superpower to exist in over ninety years.
