202
Thought I’d make a midyear blog thing to look back at how far I’ve come in terms of skinning! I’ve technically been editing skins since 2018, making original skins since 2019!

2018? I can't exactly remember but I'm guessing lol
Yea, this phase was me just editing skins together for personal use. No, I don't condone doing this now, I was just a stupid kid in middle school who was really into Undertale. I was really into the noise and gradient tools on Novaskin, which I wouldn't recommend.

late 2019
This was my first time making original skins for myself and one of my friends. The bottommost one was made using one of Beanie's old tutorials, while the top most one is very clearly based off of the NameMC lol.

early 2020
I remember having first learned how to hueshift after my first few skins, though only very slightly (I think around only 1-5 values).
You can tell that I've always really enjoys more simple shading patterns, but the color styles have changed a lot, especially since these ones are very desaturated.

late 2020
This was my latest style before my old account ( eggpuff ) completely died because of school and other important life matters.
This was when my colors became a lot more cartoonish and saturated, especially with the middle one, which was for the first year of Skin Fight lol.

dec 2021
So I came back, technically in Dec of 2021 but that's besides the point. Why? Honestly, I was just kinda bored, but I didn't want the pressure of sticking with the old of my account at the time, hence this new active one.
I was still really hesitant to change too much so I could ease myself back into skinning, but you can see my now current shading style with the fnaf skin lol

jan 2022 - apr 2022
At the beginning of this year, I'd decidedly leaned into two very specific things when it came to my skin-making: getting better with nonhumans like TV heads, and kidcore/cartoon and vibrant colors. The nonhumans part was because I didn't want to just stick with teen skins, and I'm hoping later down the line I'll start to practice and improve with armor/mecha skins too.๏ปฟ

may 2022 - now
Within this time period, I'd gone through two completely different styles.
The first two skins were from when I decided I wanted to try to have some complex shading experience on hand, should the need ever arise in the future. I also wanted more muted colors for those skins since in my head, I associate muted tones with realism.
The bottom five skins are from Skin Fight, in which I'd completely changed my color style. I remember that for my first attack, I decided that I wanted to specifically take inspiration from Mellie in terms of her bright pastel, almost neon color palettes. And after sticking with it for so long, I really enjoy how they look, especially with my style of shading. I do expect some things to change a little bit in the future, but for the time being I'm extremely happy with how far I've come now.
