HELLO EVERYBODY, i'm Atomo bringing you a blog post full of tips & tricks about everybody's favorite game Minecraft! I hope you find it helpful and educational!

1. The Looting enchantment applies when killing something while you have your sword in hand, not necessarily when you kill something using your sword though, this means that if you shoot an arrow and then quickly switch to a looting sword, then the mob the arrow kills will drop more loot, and it wont even affect your swords durability!

2. If you kill a zombie pigman in one hit (this is possible with Smite V and the Strength II effect, or Smite IV and Strength I), then it will not anger the other pigmen, allowing you to safely gather lots of nuggets! (If you want to be on the safe side I would recommend also using critical hits)

3. A tip for 1.8, slime blocks stop you from taking fall damage, but will bounce you upwards, to avoid this you can hold your sneak key, however if you do that you will take fall damage. Therefore, to avoid fall damage, and avoid bouncing, all you have to do is hold your space bar, simples!

4. Slime spawning in swamps is dependent on the moon phase, if it is a new moon no slimes will spawn, whereas you get the most slimes on a full moon. Bear this in mind before going slime hunting!

5. Lets talk horses. There are so many things you can use to breed/tame/grow horses, heres some quick tips:
5.1. In 1.8 bread can no longer be fed to horses whatsoever, but you can easily use wheat instead.
5.2. If you want to grow your baby horse, never use hay bales! Hay Bales use 9 wheat but are only 3x better than wheat, therefore converting your hay bales back into wheat and feeding the wheat to your horse will be far more economic.
5.3. Also, hay bales cannot be used to increase a horse's taming probability, so dont bother trying!

6. Blazes and Guardians drop twice the amount of experience as regular hostile mobs, making blazes one of the best mobs to farm, especially since they have a naturally occuring spawner!

7. Potions of Slowness can be obtained by combining a spider eye not just with speed potions but also fire resistance and leaping potions, yes sugar is the most economic ingredient but it has lots of other uses so magma cream remains a possibility.

8. To make things clear before 1.8 comes out, here are the number of hunger points restores by the new food items
• Raw Rabbit: 1.5 hunger bars
• Cooked Rabbit: 2.5 hunger bars
• Rabbit Stew: 5 hunger bars
• Raw Mutton: 1 hunger bar
• Cooked Mutton: 3 hunger bars
This means raw rabbit is one of the worst foods to cook seeing as they dont even poison you when raw.

9. End portal frames send out a comparator signal when there is an eye of ender in them, this can be used to make a very fancy lighting system which activates a light when the portal is complete. It can also be used with adventure maps to make cool lock systems (in other words, retrieve the eye to open the door kind of thing).

10. Axes can actually break vines faster then by hand, and will only lose one durability when used, plus, it doesnt spam you with useless vine items the way shears do!
