Release Date October 31st, 2012

1.Wooden Button: Like the other stone button but you can shoot it with an arrow and will activate.

2.Corner Stairs: These are made like any other stairs but now can be placed so that if you were making a couch it would be smooth no block in the middle.

3.Wither Skeleton: This is a black skeleton that spawns in the nether fortresses only. Like most other nether mobs it is immune to fire/fire charges. Wither skeletons like zombie pig man can now wield a black sword instead of a bow and arrow.

4. Witch: A witch is a villager but with a witch hat it can use splash potions damage harming poison etc. This is a secret I found on the internet for the update Iron Golems will attack witches if seen.

5.Bat: An enormous mob that only spawns in caves or very large houses. They can hang upside down and will fly away usually if you approach them. Spawn able with an egg in creative mode.

6.Zombies: These are not new to Minecraft but there are some special features being added. Like Zombies can now infect villagers, baby zombies which are baby villagers but they were infected and they do grow into full-scale zombies.

7.Skeletons can now spawn in the nether and to make a wither you do the same thing as an iron golem but make it out of soul sand and place the wither skeleton skulls on top of the top three blocks and boom... so when you die from the wither it says you just got withered!

8.Sounds: There are all new sounds for a lot of the things and there pretty cool so enjoy.

Decorations!: Item Frames: Item Frames can be placed on walls and things can be placed inside of them say if you had a diamond sword in survival not only is it a decoration but once you destroy the picture frame you get the diamond sword back.

Flower Pots: You can place any type of flower cactus or food that is grow able in the ground in these but it changes the size of the block to fit the pot.

Cobblestone Moss Stone Walls: I think you can figure it out but if not look it up on you tube 1.4 snapshot by fusion productions.

Dye: You can now dye leather armor any color you want and wash it off by right clicking a cauldron with water in it. Dog collars also dye able.

Heads: Skeleton, Wither skeleton, Zombie Pig man, and Creeper heads are added as a decoration. Can be placed in some angles as a sign. Also can be used as hats

Food!: Carrots, Golden Carrots, Potatoes, Baked potatoes, Poison potatoes, and pumpkin pie are being added to this very cool update. Carrots and potatoes can be found in villages.

Pig Riding: This is a mabye in the new update but it is a system with a carrot and sticks so that when you are riding pigs you can control them.

Potions: As far as in know there is only one new potion being added the invisibility potion. This potion makes the player invisible but not the things they are wearing so armor does not turn invisible only the body nor the block in your hand. This potion can also turns mobs invisible.

Mods: Now in 1.4 you will no longer have to install mods to play on a server with that mod so a lot of Minecraft players will welcome that change.
