In light of some recent heated debates of 1.9, I have decided to make this blog about the combat update. Some people claim that Minecraft PVP is dying and 1.9 will ruin PvP, and that the original PVP was better. I am here not to only argue against these points, but prove them wrong. Let us begin.

What is 1.9?
1.9 is the combat update and the next update hitting Minecraft. It will add the Elytra (a pair of wings), the teleportation fruit known as chorus fruit, a completely revamped end, and finally, drastic changes to the PVP system.

Now, let me list ALL the combat changes, as well as their actual impact on PVP.
1. Strength Meter - Notice how I am avoiding calling this a cooldown bar. Because it's not. It simply handicaps the damage you do when it is not full. This means your attacks will still do SOME damage and the same amount of knockback when it's not. Furthermore, this is not a negative thing. Arguing that memorizing enemy invincibility frames required more strategy due to timing would be wrong, because the new bar relies on timing as well....so....yeah...and most forget that there even were invincibility frames. The cooldown bar is barely above those and timed well for critical hits. To further elaborate on what this is, every weapon uses a different amount of strength. The more it uses, the higher the windup.
2. Weapon Changes - There was initially much complaining about the damage tools now do. However, after the mass majority realized the way strength bars actually worked, this has become completely overlooked. Axes do more damage than swords, but use more strength. Hoes don't use much strength at all. In fact, it's borderline impossible to outspeed them with your mouse.
3. Weapon Abilities - Swords use knockback attacks called sword sweeps when you aren't running. They knockback all nearby enemies a tad bit. Axes disable shields sometimes.
4. Dual Wielding - Although you can't dual wield weapons (sorry kirito fans) I think the main point of this is the shields. And replacing them with food/potions/ender pearls situationally. Basically to summarize, two new spaces in the inventory.
5. New arrow types

Commonly overlooked:
1. Not much change in spam click hit speed with sword's cooldown
2. IDK, I'll add to this some other time.
3. New arrow types. Again.

New strategies:
1. Kits
-New arrow types = Enchanter, support roles
-Hoes= Knockback oriented kit.
-Elytra user= Scouts out enemy positioning from above and rains down spectral arrows and poison arrows but has little armor/melee
-Tank: Iron Sword + Shield
-Warrior: Axe -> Breaks tank's shield
-Swordsmaster: Diamond sword/also knockback
-Mage = Chorus fruit/ender pearls and ranged weapons
-Reaper= Knockback Hoe user + teleportation = profit
2. Rock/Paper Scissors
-Axes beat shields
-swords beat people near cliffs/knock back mass of enemies/escape enemies easily
-hoes irritate the heck out of opponents + cliff push (good against slow attackers (axe))
3. Formation
-Actually matters with player collision option
-Matters due to rock paper scissors
-Ally strength compensate for own weakness
4. Arrows
5. Evading attacks
-Particularly axes with high strength and high cooldowns/best with teleportations

Other notes: It is now Possible to defeat enemies with higher tier armor using all of the above methods. Also, with the new cooldown stuff, running becomes possible.

In conclusion, 1.9 has drastically changed PvP for the better. Nothing before 1.9 required deep thinking. Now I can actually use my brain, there is a meta, and I can plan out strategies on my free time to apply to minecraft. I am so excited!

Also, Isaac for Smash 4.

Well, hoes are still good. And rapiers were used to farm also. So if you retexture a hoe....
Then you get SAO.
