It's a time of war. The biggest war Minecraftia's ever seen; between my kingdom, Skyheart, and the enemy's, Fireblade. I know which one sounds nicer, but that doesn't matter. At all. A kingdom name doesn't give a say in its personality. It could be to make it sound more powerful to others, or to be inviting to others. Either way, they could just as both be the sweetest things in the world, or the harshest. Look at me drag on. This isn't the point of anything.

I should be rooting for Skyheart, being the princess and all, but I'm not. I know what you're thinking; "If you're not rooting for Skyheart, you have to be rooting for Fireblade." But that's not true. I would much rather have my own kingdom win, to be honest. I'm the heir to the throne. I'm an only child. I don't want something I could be ruling to be ruined. I'm actually rooting for a different side... one people tend to overlook. The one who doesn't believe in war at all, and wish everyone would get over themselves and know winning a war doesn't make you any better. It makes you worse. You killed enough people to make your enemy give up. Go out and have a party. And I want everyone in war to sink that in. You are killing people, no matter what the cause is for. Maybe killing people that want to kill people too cancels it out, but I don't think so. We're all on one world; we can settle conflicts without hurting each other.

But no one would listen to me, even if I am a princess. For all I know, I'm the only on this side. My FAMILY wouldn't listen to me... and like I'd ever tell them. My dad, since he's the king, even fights in most of the battles. And my mom encourages him. If I could just meet one person who thinks the same way, I'd be complete. Someone could cut my head off right then and there, but I wouldn't care. Not even my closest friends would agree with me.

So I just stare out the window in my room, looking over the city, and think about how this place was before war. It looks completely different now. There used to be parties every night downtown, but now everyone just stays locked up in their houses and try to keep up with what's going on on the battlefield. There's probably an average of 10 men everyday walking down the cobblestone streets, informing the women and young adult girls, "Your husband's been killed in the war," "Your son's been killed in the war," "Your boyfriend's been killed in the war." If the guy who's been killed didn't fit under one of these, they told his friends. If he didn't have any friends, well, that might be why the streets aren't crowded with these... someone-you-know-has-been-killed informers. And because a lot of the bodies haven't been identified. Even with dog tags, a lot of them are killed in explosions that blow the tag right off. The point is, each side of the war has thousands of people dead, and no one's winning.

I get lost in my thoughts a lot, and when that happens I can't hear people talking. So it probably took maybe 5 calls until I finally heard my mom calling my name.

"AMELIA! GET DOWN HERE NOW!" my mom screamed. It's not like she screams at me all the time. She probably sounded nice the first time, but like I said, I wasn't listening.

I rolled my eyes. "Sorry, I didn't hear you! I'm coming!" I yelled back, though I probably didn't need to yell. The sound travels pretty well through the castle. I walked out of my room and down the stairs. You don't usually realize how beautiful the castle is. Heck, I didn't notice then either. I just think you should get a description of the place. The castle doesn't look at all pretty on the outside, just regular stone, but that's just so it doesn't seem out of place with the rest of the city. On the inside, the walls and floors are lined with diamond, gold, and iron. Amazing portraits of the past kings, queens, princes, princesses were on the walls. I'll get my picture done once I marry, and once I die it'll be hung up like all the others. The lights are glowstone lamps hung from the ceiling, and the stairway is lined with nether brick rail. You heard me, a rail. We got something specifically made for the castle, that no one else has ever had before. The stairway is curved, making amazing entrances when you're walking down, or perfect for sliding down the rail. But since I'm a "young lady" I'm not allowed to do that. "Especially in your nice dresses."

My mother was waiting for me at the foot of the stairs. I ran down the steps and jumped over the last two.

"You know you're not supposed to do that." she said.

I shrugged. "But it's fun." She just sighed. She was wearing a beautiful silk, purple dress the flowed to a couple inches onto the ground. I was wearing a light blue one, that I didn't think at all made me look pretty. Her auburn hair was up in a neat bun, which I can't do. I have longer hair, but it's all curls. Her's is straight. I have auburn hair as well, but that's the only similarity I can see between us. I think I look nothing like my mother, but some people say I could be her twin at times.

"Honey, we have to talk." Oh no, I thought. Not another "If-you're-going-to-be-the-queen-one-day-you're-going-to-have-to-act-like-it" lecture. I crossed my arms. "It's about you're father."

"Oh... what is it?" I uncrossed my arms and looked more terrified now. He could have died in the war for all I know.

"He's decided to stay full time in the war. He told us he'll write... but we won't see him until the war is over." I felt like crying, but I dare not to in front of my mom. So I tried my best to keep a straight face.

"But the war could last years! And what if something," I didn't want to say it, "bad happens?"

"I don't know sweetie, we'll just have to see. I don't think we can argue with a king."

"But... but..." I turned around and stomped back up the stairs and into my room. I slammed the door behind me. I sat down on my bed, and started bawling my eyes out.
