Hi guys, Greytopher here with a blog. I know, it's been quite a while! I've had exams and all that jazz for a while now, and I will be done this week with all that good stuff. But today, I'm here to talk about the term of being "age racist", and why it's grammatically incorrect, why the term is used all the time in the wrong way, and why using that term only worsens your situation.
It seems a lot of people missed the point of this blog: "AGE RACISM" ISN'T A THING. THIS IS A BLOG ON WHY USING THAT TERM JUST MAKES YOU LOOK STUPID. AND YES, AGE DISCRIMINATION IS A BAD THING.
Being "Age Racist" Isn't a Thing...
I, along with a few other members (like Snowylips and Dingousa) have become more... recently annoyed with the trend of people calling others "age racist". Now you must be thinking to yourselves: Why? Just... why? Well, to answer that, I don't really know why people are deciding to use this term, but, I think I help everyone here by saying to NOT say that.
Some people, on the forums specifically, have been discussing people being "age racist". In this context, they mean that people frown upon the younger people of PMC. Now while you can understand where they're coming from on this, it's hard to take it seriously when you're saying "OMG, you're being age racist!"
If you're being racist, you're discriminating/being harmful to a certain race of people (African, European, etc.). You can't be age racist since being an age isn't a 'race'. If you want to use the correct term, if anything, you would be talking about AGEISM: is stereotyping and discriminating against individuals or groups because of their age. It's hard to win an argument when you're using a term that doesn't exist.
You're Only Making Yourself Look Bad...
In all seriousness, I can't take you seriously with your 'age racist' comments. I mean, look at yourself! It only makes your argument less appealing with using a term that isn't existent. Using terms like that is also the reason why people are saying these things, it always circles around back onto itself.
For example, if you're being mean to me because I'm 10 years old and I call you 'age racist' on the forums, then you'll only laugh at me even more. It makes my desire to get revenge or justice even greater, thus calling more people 'age racist'. It's an ongoing circle that BOTH parties participate in, it's never a one sided thing.
You just have to remember on why this person is making this mistake, maybe you'll make the active choice on helping the person understand the correct usage of the term, end the argument there, and move on with your lives. But there are too many things going on, such as in the forums, that prevents people from stopping where they are and moving on with themselves.
What Has Caused This Monstrosity?
There can be a variety of reasons why people are being 'age racist' to one another. It's not uncommon for someone to look down on another for being younger than that person, and then feel like they have more power over them. I know PMC has a continuing and growing problem of being harmful to our younger audience, since we want to also keep this site family friendly.
It will probably be a never ending thing: but as I made with my bullying blog, it may be never ending, but we want to try and make a difference by making this more aware, and hopefully recognizing and stopping it before it ever happens. We try our best to help others, but it can prove to be difficult BECAUSE of their age. I know it's harder to communicate with a younger audience based on ban appeals and other things, so sometimes I too lose my temper.
It also contributes to the ageist ideas that when younger children type in a certain way, maybe not correctly, they get made fun of. This contributes to the never ending cycle of the younger dispising the older, and the older looking down on the younger. It's sad to see, really. But the main point of this is, if you want to stop something in it's tracks, you have to know your info first. Don't talk about something that you're not too hot on.
Sometimes, it's hard to treat someone older than their age. It's hard to find a 10 year old who acts older than they are, because usually their immature. It's not your fault that your as old as you are, but it all depends on how you will act on a situation. Especially on the forums; you have tons of time to think before you speak, so be sure to read over what you say before you say it. It may just help you out in the long run.

A lot of other kids around my age are immature, which really irritates me because the immature kidsÃ
get our age a bad image and then it's hard for someone to take you seriously. When starting a conversation with someone new on the internet for example, I don't really like talking about my age in the beginning. Later on, when they know me a little better, I reveal my age, which mostly doesn't matter for that person anymore because they've seen my personality.
(Also, sorry for my huge grammar mistakes :3)
