A Pitcher's Glove

Synopsis
A pitcher's glove is a fictional story regarding the life of young athlete Aaron Branson. Aaron Branson is Timber Creek High's star baseball pitcher. While his life may seem quite great being a high school "superstar", his life takes a total turn as he makes a big mistake whilst driving along a highway. Aaron then spends the majority of his time in a hospital's rehab center in hopes to regain control over his life, struggling with the fact his baseball career has possibly ended.

Prologue
I was once told that writing about your day or how you are helps you in a number of ways. At first, I didn't believe it or completely understand it and I still don't but I thought I'd give it a try, mostly because there's no harm in that right? Yeah well, I thought so too until something happened. Now, I'm not entirely sure what happened but maybe I'll figure it out along the way. However, for now, I'll start at the beginning.

Chapter 1
"Standing directly in front of the pitching rubber, toes pointing perfectly towards third base, arms directly in front of his body in a position known as the "coming set". Quickly taking a step forward towards home base delivering his pitch, Aaron successfully delivers an amazing strikeout sending Timber Creek High's fans into roaring cheers with the final victory of the season!"
Well, that's how I'd wish that day ended and how it had gone, but unfortunately my day took a nasty turn. I'd been in the car with my friends, well my so called friends, driving along Shell City Highway to our last and final game of the season. I'd taken my eyes off the road for one second, you could never think that something so terrible could happen in such a short amount of time. Though in that split second that I'd turned my head towards Daniel, I witnessed my entire world flash before my eyes. The deafening screeches of the tires twirling, two cars colliding heavily. We went off the road, the car tumbling down the hill, everything happening so fast.
I then blacked out, the only thing I could remember was the wail of an ambulance and the sound of an older male saying what seemed to be "Don't worry son, you'll be just fine." as he put me in the back of the ambulance, I wasn't sure what had happened, but I also knew that everything wouldn't okay or even fine for that matter. Blood had been covering my face and my body. I was having a hard time hearing, I couldn't feel my legs or my arms. A few moments later I could abruptly feel the pain rushing through my body, I could feel every drop of blood dripping from my body. I had endured so much pain that I blacked out once again. When I finally became conscious I was being removed from the ambulance and rushed to the hospital. I was unsure what had happened to Daniel and the others, not even the driver of the car we'd collided with, I was having a hard time staying awake after losing so much blood. I was given some type of anesthesia and taken in for an emergency surgery. When I had awoken I was in a bit of pain. Surrounded by my mother, father, and my younger sister Katie. "What, what happened?", I'd asked with a very faint voice. "Don't you remember? You were in a pretty bad car crash", Katie replied in an increasingly frantic tone of voice. "That's okay, everyone's okay right?" I asked. Telling from the facial expression of my father I now knew that there was something wrong and they weren't telling me. As I began to ask what it was the doctor had joined us. He began to explain everything that had happened and what it all meant, but honestly after he said there was a chance I'd never be able to play baseball again my heart sank. It sank in a way it never did before, I'd felt as if all my dreams had been taken away and I had absolutely nothing left. But that wasn't true I still had my life and my family and my future. There's absolutely nothing worse than having your life's dream snatched from your hands. I spent the following few moments thinking about how much my life has changed while the doctor had continued talking. I didn't hear much besides me having to attend therapy if I ever wanted to walk again. I didn't really see a point but I knew how many parents would react if I hadn't gone. I spent the next few days at the hospital finally being released on day 6.

Chapter 2
3 days later

After 3 long days of getting ready for the first day at the rehab center. I still felt very far from ready. I've spent the past 9 days thinking about what happened and what my family and doctors have been keeping from me. A few minutes before my first rehab session I'd had a meeting with my doctor. I asked him about the secrets he and my family were keeping from me. "Its best you don't know, but if you really want to know you should talk to your parents about it." He replied. I decided to do just that. I spent the rest of the day thinking about the entire situation and being yelled at by the rehabilitation instructor for not trying my best. But how could I after everything that's happened? I'm not so sure I'll be able to live with the fact I'll most likely never be able to play baseball again, or at least play the same.
