Hey guys. I haven't really posted anything on PMC in a really long time, because I kind of veered away from Minecraft for a few months and started visiting other video games. Anyways, here's my rant/opinion for today.

I used to play Minecraft everyday since the first day I was introduced into it by one of my friends back in middle school around the 7th grade. Here, 4 years later, I'm looking at how far the game has Minecraft has come. All the new updates, all the features, and all the progress that has been made. It's really amazing from my standpoint.

I saw all of the potential for the game of Minecraft when I was playing it. All the amazing things you can build and create. All the people you can meet. Over my course of playing MC, I have met so many friendly people in this community and I am still friends with some of them to this day. Over three years ago, I met a good friend on a Minecraft server called [eG] Minecraft. We began Skyping and really getting to know each other. And here we are, over three years later, and we talk almost everyday, and I actually got to meet him in real life, which was awesome. It really taught me that Minecraft is more than just a game that can connect people. I ran a YouTube channel (I run 2 at the moment.) all focused around Minecraft. It was really a big part of my life for a while.

And now, here we are. I recently saw all the chat about Bukkit and Spigot production coming to a halt because of some DMCA claim. Both of those were extremely important to a lot of Minecraft servers that I played on. I understand there are plenty of vanilla servers out there, but a lot of servers on PC are based off of Bukkit and Spigot. They provided game changing elements that I loved and gave me the desire to play the game more. Vanilla isn't bad, but playing it so frequently gets boring.

I get that both of them can come back and reboot after some time, but with the release of 1.8 that just happened, can put both of them in a tough position. Servers can't update to the newest version of them, forcing them to stay 1.7 with their plugins and such, or update to 1.8 and have no plugins. In my opinion, this could be the death of future Minecraft updates and the game in general. I understand that console is living off of just vanilla, but PC is the complete opposite. I just feel like the change will be so game-changing to PC, that it might ruin the community to shreds. And that kind of kills me inside after playing the game for so long now.

I really hope that both projects continue their lifespan, and that this DMCA thing flies by so that PC Minecraft can return to its original state. Being away from the Minecraft community and coming back to see this really saddens me.

Get well soon, Minecraft.

Yeah, I know. It sounds crazy. It was really weird doing it, but in the end, it was really cool. :)

Why is Microsoft trying to buy Minecraft anyways?

I mean like what are they going to do with it?

I'm kind of annoyed that Microsoft bought Minecraft. The original owners of Minecraft shouldn't have sold it!

Why wouldn't you want to buy one of the most popular game on the market?

If Minecraft is sold, that doesn't mean it's dead. It will just live on. Minecraft has made tons of money and keeps on making a lot of money, so I see no reason why Microsoft would mess it up..

"Minecraft has made tons of money and keeps on making a lot of money" and "Microsoft" in the same sentence basically equals Microsoft messing it up...

I'm worried for Apple and Linux users--more so Linux users, because that's what I use. I don't know if Microsoft will continue to support MC for us.
